Amidst the modern urban life, the communal houses, ancient temples and pagodas still silently tell stories about a thousand-year-old Hanoi. The field trips of Dr. Nguyen Thi Hiep (heritage expert of the International Technical Cooperation Organization, French Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the project's researchers have clearly understood this reality, thereby building heritage tourism routes associated with residential areas, so that people and tourists can experience and learn about history in their daily lives. This is not only a scientific research project, but also a community project - arousing pride in heritage, creating opportunities for people to participate in preserving and promoting the image of Hanoi.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Hiep said: "Currently, we are testing four main cultural experience journeys: Mother Goddess Worship, Ancestor Worship, Pagoda Journey and Four Towns of Thang Long. Each journey is built with memorable stories, thereby helping participants understand the richness of Vietnam's cultural heritage and clearly recognize the responsibility of future generations to preserve it."
From Hue alley, the journey continues at Ham Long pagoda - one of the famous ancient pagodas of Hanoi . Here, Vietnamese and French experts share their perspectives on urban heritage in the context of integration and development. The companionship of international experts is a testament to the influence of a humanistic scientific project - where heritage becomes a cultural bridge between Vietnam and international friends.
Mr. Denis Fourmeau - Attaché for Scientific and University Cooperation, French Embassy commented: "I am very honored and happy to contribute to the work of heritage conservation, especially important documentary heritages such as steles. This is proof of the importance of preserving Vietnamese cultural heritage. Through field trips like this, students become more mature. At the same time, this is also a solid foundation for the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and France to continue to develop better and better".
Mr. Le Hong Son - a joint university student of Toulouse University and Hanoi University of Architecture shared: "Personally, I find this an extremely rewarding journey. From these trips, I realized that in the heart of Hanoi there still exist many forgotten heritages and relics. Such 'heritage fragments' are extremely important in preserving historical values, and at the same time provide valuable opportunities for us students to learn and continue to preserve those values for future generations."
From small alleys, from ancient communal houses and pagodas, heritage tourism journeys are gradually portraying a new face for Hanoi - a creative city where the past and present go hand in hand. "Hanoi Heritage Tourism Journey" - is not only a journey to find the roots, but also a reminder of the responsibility to preserve precious cultural values for today and tomorrow.
