Coach Mai Duc Chung speaks from the heart before the Southeast Asian women's football tournament

(Dan Tri) - The Vietnamese women's football team will have their opening match against Cambodia tomorrow night (August 6). Coach Mai Duc Chung spoke from the bottom of his heart, hoping that fans would come to cheer on the girls playing football.

The Vietnamese women's football team is highly rated at the 2025 Southeast Asian Football Championship. We have the home field advantage in this year's tournament. However, coach Mai Duc Chung still appears very modest.

Before the match, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “The Vietnamese women’s football team respects all opponents in this year’s tournament. We have studied the teams of Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia (the opponents of the Vietnamese women’s team in Group A), they are making very positive changes.”

“I think the Vietnamese women’s players must try their best in every match. We want to call on fans to cheer for the Vietnamese women’s football team in this tournament,” coach Mai Duc Chung added.

This is a tournament for the Vietnamese women's football team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in December, as well as the upcoming Asian women's football tournament. Coach Mai Duc Chung highly appreciated the importance of the regional tournament.

“This is a very important tournament for Vietnamese women’s football and teams in Southeast Asia. We have the opportunity to compete to prepare for the Southeast Asian Games later this year,” said Mr. Chung.

“We thank the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for organizing this tournament, so that teams in the region have the opportunity to compete with each other,” said coach Mai Duc Chung.

Meanwhile, coach Gyotoku Koji (Japanese) of the Cambodian women's team said: "This is definitely a very difficult tournament for us. The Cambodian women's team has to face the Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian women's teams in the group stage."

“In particular, in the opening match, we have to face a very strong home team, Vietnam. I don’t dare predict the outcome of the upcoming match, I only know that we will try to show our best ability,” coach Gyotoku Koji added.

The match between the Vietnamese women's team and the Cambodian women's team will take place at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (August 5), at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ). Before that, also at Lach Tray Stadium, Thailand will face Indonesia.
