Vietnam women's team won 6-0 against Cambodia team

The Vietnamese women's team defeated Cambodia 6-0 on the evening of August 6 at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ). Before that, the Thai women's team defeated Indonesia 7-0. These results helped Thailand temporarily lead Group A of the 2025 Southeast Asian Football Championship after the first round of matches.

After the match against Cambodia, coach Mai Duc Chung of the Vietnamese women's team said: "Today we won big. However, I am a bit greedy, the Vietnamese women's team could have won bigger. We missed many scoring opportunities."

“Regarding the remaining opponents in Group A, including the Thai and Indonesian women's teams, I rate Thailand higher than Indonesia. Thailand's 7-0 victory over Indonesia reflects that.

This is the tournament that Thailand wants to prepare for the SEA Games and for the future. They use many young players. This team has many players that I am quite unfamiliar with," coach Mai Duc Chung added.

This year's Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship is also a tournament where many Southeast Asian teams use many naturalized players (the Philippines has 18 naturalized players, Indonesia has 7). Coach Mai Duc Chung commented on this.

Mr. Chung said: “I think that women’s football teams in the region should only naturalize 2-3 players, depending on each tournament. The rest of the teams must make room for domestic players to develop, creating fairness between naturalized players and players trained domestically.”

“For women's football teams in Southeast Asia, using 1-2 naturalized players in the squad does not change much the strength of each team,” coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed.

Meanwhile, coach Koji Gyokuto (Japanese) of the Cambodian women's team commented: "The difference in skill level between the Vietnamese and Cambodian teams is too big. The Vietnamese women's team is too strong so we cannot make a difference."

“The Vietnamese women’s football team has a similar playing style to your men’s team. I have led the Cambodian men’s team to compete with the Vietnamese team and U23 Vietnam, and I can confirm that the techniques of both your male and female players are very good,” the Japanese coach who is leading the Cambodian women’s team affirmed.
