" I have watched the last 2-3 matches of the Vietnamese team. They have number 14 (Nguyen Hoang Duc), number 9 (Nguyen Van Tung) and number 3 (Que Ngoc Hai) who are good players ," coach Hector Cuper of the Syrian team said at a press conference.
Coach Cuper and his players will be the opponents of the Vietnamese team in a friendly match taking place tomorrow night (June 20) at Thien Truong Stadium. Like his colleague Philippe Troussier, Coach Cuper has only been in charge for a few months and is in the process of building a squad and tactics for the West Asian team.
" This is an important match for the Syrian team. I have only been here for 4 months so I need time to get to know the team and the players. In this training session, I called many young players to give an overall assessment. Besides, I also apply my philosophy to the whole team. The friendly results are only a part, the important thing is that the team must clearly understand the playing style that I propose ," said the Argentine coach.

Coach Hector Cuper started leading the Syrian team from February 2023. He and the team went through two friendly matches in March - against Thailand and Bahrain.
" Let's wait and see how Syria will play. We are not focused on winning or losing, but pay more attention to the overall details. If this were a World Cup qualifying match, things would be different. Syria is a new team for me, so I need to learn more about it to look forward to the future, " said the coach who finished runner-up twice in the UEFA Champions League.
The Syrian team has been in Vietnam since June 12. The West Asian team will have a practice session at Thien Truong Stadium this afternoon, before entering the match with the Vietnamese team at 7:30 pm tomorrow, June 20.
