According to The Times of Israel , Israel has expanded its military presence in Syria since December 2024, after the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was overthrown. To date, Israel has established nine military outposts inside Syrian territory.

Also in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump on March 12 affirmed that Washington will not ask any Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip. Egypt and Hamas welcomed the move. Regarding negotiations, discussions on phase 2 of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza taking place in Doha (Qatar) are very positive and different from before when US mediators are said to have a deeper understanding of Hamas, according to The National News on March 13.
