According to The Times of Israel , Israel has expanded its military presence in Syria since December 2024, after the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was overthrown. To date, Israel has established nine military outposts inside Syrian territory.

Also in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump affirmed on March 12 that Washington will not ask any Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip. Egypt and Hamas welcomed the move.
