Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 is a series of events organized for the first time with the theme "Heritage - Connection - Era", directed by the Hanoi People's Committee, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with other units. The event is expected to become a cultural - tourism highlight of the autumn, contributing to spreading the creative spirit and heritage values of the Capital.
The opening ceremony took place on the evening of November 7 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, introducing a night of art combining tradition and modernity, with 3D and LED light projections and the participation of folk artists and young artists. The closing ceremony is scheduled to be held on the evening of November 16 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square.
According to the Organizing Committee, more than 30 programs will be implemented at locations symbolizing Hanoi 's heritage such as Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Ngoc Son Temple, Hanoi Museum, Hoan Kiem Lake, etc., bringing diverse experiences to residents and tourists.

In particular, the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam is the focus of the series of activities "Heritage Convergence" from November 1-9. Here, visitors can visit the display of craft products from the three capitals of Thang Long - Hue - Hoa Lu and the Central Highlands provinces; enjoy the cuisine "Flavor of Hanoi"; attend exhibitions, fashion shows, art programs and educational activities. Notable events include the fashion show "Ao Dai on the Heritage Road" (November 2); the painting exhibition "Thanh Tan Hanoi" (November 2); the international scientific seminar "Eastern and Western Cultural and Educational Heritage" (November 3); the exhibition "Heritage and the Future" (November 3). On November 8, the workshop "Application of Heritage in Creativity" gathered scientists, artisans and designers to discuss the exploitation of heritage associated with sustainable creativity.
At Thang Long Imperial Citadel, audiences will have the opportunity to watch the play “Thang Long Capital” on November 10. Ngoc Son Temple will host the program “Ngoc Son Mysterious Night” on November 8 and 16. Ba Kieu Temple Flower Garden will be the venue for the Hanoi Puppetry Festival on November 15.
Hanoi Museum introduces the exhibition “Archaeological discoveries from the Vuon Chuoi relic”, the art program “Eternal Moments” and the 4th Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival. The Ao Dai Festival takes place from November 7-9 at Hanoi Museum and Hoan Kiem Lake area, bringing together 30 Ao Dai designers from three regions, creating a space to honor traditional costumes associated with the cultural and tourism values of the Capital.
This year’s festival also celebrates the 10th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of “Tug of War Rituals and Games” as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Within the framework of the activities, Hanoi organized an international conference “A decade of protecting and promoting Tug of War Rituals and Games” and exchange and performance programs with the participation of international delegations and 10 domestic heritage practicing communities.
Along with organizing a series of large-scale events, Hanoi is promoting the festival to international tourists. The city has signed a cooperation agreement with Vietnam Airlines to introduce festival activities on flights. The Hanoi Tourism Promotion Center has deployed communications on platforms such as Agoda and Traveloka and sent information to accommodation and travel establishments to include the event in tours and routes.
| According to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 will be held annually in the fall (October - November) to strengthen the brand of the Creative City and "Asia's most attractive autumn tourist destination", contributing to the development of the cultural industry. The event is considered an opportunity for Hanoi to demonstrate its spirit of integration, responsibility for preserving heritage, and at the same time strongly promote the image of Vietnamese culture to the world. |
