Restoring Cai Be floating market at Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village festival, Dong Thap

On November 3, information from the People's Committee of Dong Thap province said that from December 3 to 7, 2025, in Cai Be commune (Dong Thap province), the 6th Dong Hoa Hiep Ancient Village Cultural - Tourism Festival will take place, with the theme Ancient Village Memories . The event is organized by the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, aiming to preserve and promote the value of the ancient village's cultural heritage, while promoting the local image to domestic and foreign tourists.

The highlight of this year's festival is the restoration of Cai Be floating market , one of the most famous floating markets in the Southwest region but has gradually faded away over the years. Accordingly, the floating market space will be vividly recreated with dozens of boats loaded with garden products, combined with serving folk cuisine and introducing local specialties, helping visitors experience the unique river culture of the Dong Thap Muoi region.

In addition, the festival also has many rich activities such as: Heritage journey connecting culture - tourism - craft villages; digital journey to Dong Hoa Hiep Ancient Village; culinary program "Quintessence of the West"; Dong Hoa Hiep Ancient Village imprint night, along with activities of Vietnamese goods to the countryside , OCOP product display , Famtrip and discussion on developing ancient village tourism products . Cai Be Commune People's Committee was assigned to mobilize socialized funding to organize and renovate the festival area, creating an attractive and friendly appearance for tourists.

Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village was ranked as a National Architectural and Artistic Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2017. Along with Duong Lam ancient village (Hanoi) and Phuoc Tich (Hue), this is one of three typical ancient villages in Vietnam that the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has coordinated to invest in developing a rural tourism model.

Currently, the village has 7 ancient houses built from 150 to 220 years ago and 29 houses over 80-100 years old , bearing the bold Southern garden house architectural style, with a structure of 5 rooms and 3 wings, in the shape of the letter T, with sophisticated carvings.

With the theme of Ancient Village Memories , the 2025 festival promises not only to recreate an ancient countryside in the heart of Dong Thap, but also to contribute to preserving and spreading traditional cultural values, making Dong Hoa Hiep Ancient Village a unique tourist destination in the Mekong Delta region.
