Promoting regional linkages – forming a chain of unique tourism products
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Tran Trung Hieu - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism emphasized: The consistent goal of cooperation between Hanoi and Vinh Long is to build unique, diverse, and highly attractive inter-provincial and inter-regional tourism product chains, contributing to extending the length of stay and increasing spending of tourists.
The key linkage contents identified include: Cultural - Heritage Linkage: Exploiting the values of cultural heritage, history, craft villages and unique festivals of Hanoi and Vinh Long to form specialized cultural tours, spreading Vietnamese cultural values.
Linking Nature - Experience: Connecting the ecotourism strengths of the two localities, forming experiential products with strong regional imprints.
Cuisine - Shopping Link: Coordinate to promote the typical culinary values of Hanoi and famous products of Vinh Long such as Nam Roi grapefruit, orange, pomelo, coconut... to build a tour to visit orchards - enjoy local specialties - connect culinary culture and tourism trade.
Linking Craft Villages - River Tourism: Connecting Bat Trang pottery and Van Phuc silk craft villages (Hanoi) with brick, pottery, weaving, and traditional cake craft villages of Vinh Long, forming a unique river tourism product, bearing the cultural imprint of craft villages.

Vinh Long - new destination of the Mekong Delta after the merger
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung said that Vinh Long is honored to host the conference within the framework of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Week to celebrate the Ok Om Bok Festival in 2025. After merging with Ben Tre and Tra Vinh, Vinh Long province has a population of over 4.1 million people, a natural area of over 6,200 km², owns a synchronous transportation system with highways and large bridges such as My Thuan, Co Chien, Rach Mieu, Dai Ngai..., creating favorable conditions for the development of inter-regional and national tourism.
In recent years, Vinh Long has achieved many positive results in tourism development cooperation with Hanoi, through information exchange activities, promotion, cooperation in product development, tour routes, and sharing of state management experiences in tourism. The signing of this cooperation agreement continues to affirm the determination of the two localities in implementing Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024 of the Prime Minister on comprehensive, fast and sustainable tourism development with the motto: "Close connection - Smooth coordination - Extensive cooperation - Sustainable efficiency."

5 directions for cooperation between Hanoi and Vinh Long
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Phan Linh Chi emphasized 5 specific cooperation orientations between the two localities in the coming time, including: (1) Strengthening the connection of tourist markets: Building a regular promotion coordination mechanism, organizing two-way tourism programs "From the Capital to the West - From the garden to the Capital". Developing MICE tourists, family tourists and school tourists; Hanoi becomes a transit hub for international tourists to Vinh Long. (2) Developing unique tourism products - bearing local imprints: Focusing on eco-agricultural - community tourism products associated with OCOP, Mang Thit red pottery, Cho Lach cultural tourism village, Con Chim, Con Ho, river tourism and school tourism. (3) Strengthening tourism promotion, advertising and digital transformation : Leveraging Hanoi's communication advantages to promote Vinh Long tourism on digital platforms, at international events. Building a brand identity for river tourism, developing a digital tourism database and enhancing online communication. (4) Training and developing high-quality tourism human resources: Coordinating to organize training courses on professional skills, digital skills, destination management, green tourism; inviting major universities in Hanoi to participate in support. Paying attention to training young workers at homestays and community tourism spots. (5) Attracting investment, developing infrastructure and sustainable tourism environment: Prioritizing investment in resorts, wharves, riverside roads, and tourism service centers. Calling on Hanoi investors to research eco-tourism projects, entertainment areas, and resorts along the Tien and Hau rivers. Linking tourism development with cultural preservation, environmental protection, reducing plastic waste, building a "Green - Clean - Safe - Friendly" tourism image.

Deputy Director Phan Linh Chi affirmed: “The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will continue to accompany localities, including Hanoi and Vinh Long, in product development, domestic and international promotion, human resource training, digital transformation, as well as connecting through major events such as VITM Hanoi, ITE Ho Chi Minh City and national tourism promotion programs”.
Deputy Director We believe that, with the strong leadership of the two local leaders, the dynamism of tourism businesses, and the support of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the connection between Hanoi and Vinh Long will become increasingly strong and effective, opening up new tourist routes, new products and new markets, contributing to the rapid and sustainable development of tourism in the two localities, becoming a driving force for economic - cultural - social growth in the new period.

At the conference, delegates watched a video introducing destinations and typical tourism products of the two localities and attended the signing ceremony of a memorandum of cooperation on tourism promotion between Hanoi and Vinh Long.
The event contributes to strengthening the cooperative relationship between the major tourist center of the North and the potential destination of the Southwest, opening up opportunities for comprehensive and sustainable tourism development in the coming time.
