Hoa Tri Commune proactively responds to storm No. 13

Faced with the complicated and dangerous developments of storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi storm), on November 5, the People's Committee of Hoa Tri commune resolutely deployed prevention, control and response measures at the highest level.

The forces helping people do not attack their homes.

Accordingly, the commune has established 3 rapid response teams to command in key areas to receive and promptly process information from the grassroots. In addition, 19 rapid response teams have been established in 19 villages, each team has 12-15 people including village chief, Party cell secretary, head of the Front work committee and branches, unions, etc., with the task of propagating, guiding people to stock up on necessities, checking, reinforcing houses, public works and being ready to evacuate people to safe places when there is heavy rain, deep flooding or landslides.

People proactively prevent storms.

Since the morning of November 5, the rapid response teams have been divided into many small groups to simultaneously support single-parent households, the elderly, and the vulnerable by tying down roofs and windows, trimming trees, elevating furniture, and reinforcing houses. Temporary houses, houses with old roofs, or houses in low-lying areas are given priority for support. The loudspeaker system in the villages continuously broadcasts information about the storm's developments and provides guidance on prevention skills, helping people to proactively respond.

By the afternoon of the same day, the commune had basically completed the inspection of vulnerable areas and supported people in securing their houses. Food, instant noodles, eggs, medicine, etc. were also prepared by the commune to serve people when necessary. Particularly in the Suoi Mo area, the commune arranged warning signs, ropes and guards to prevent people from passing through if there was a storm and the water level rose.
