Dien Lac commune urgently deploys storm prevention and control work

On the afternoon of November 5, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tho - Chairman of Dien Lac Commune People's Committee said that the commune is urgently implementing measures to prevent, combat and respond to storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi storm). Commune leaders have inspected construction works, schools; houses in vulnerable areas, near river banks, at risk of landslides... to direct storm prevention and combat work.

Previously, the Commune People's Committee directed the Economic Department to contract with businesses, households and individuals in the area to prepare rescue and evacuation means when natural disasters occur to ensure absolute safety for the people; purchase and supplement necessary means, tools and equipment to serve the work of natural disaster prevention and control - search and rescue and civil defense. At the same time, notify the construction units of Suoi Dang Bridge Project, D1 Road to have a plan to cover and protect the works, construction machinery and equipment, avoid damage when the storm hits and ensure the safety of the construction area after the storm. The Department of Culture and Society monitors and promptly updates weather forecasts on the storm situation, continuously propagandizes on the radio system so that people can proactively respond.

The villages have mobilized people to reinforce their houses, reinforce roofs, protect their properties and prepare necessities; at the same time, they need to comply with evacuation orders from the authorities in case of bad situations caused by natural disasters. The commune also distributed life jackets, portable speakers, life buoys, ropes... for the villages to use and put up ropes and signs at the underpasses through Cach Giang hamlet, Lung bridge, Roc bridge, Dong hamlet... when floods occur.

According to the commune's statistics, when the storm hit, the whole commune had 72 households with 155 people subject to evacuation. When there was a flood, 135 households with 307 people had to evacuate to schools, village cultural houses and the commune People's Committee headquarters. The commune People's Committee also directed the police and the commune Military Command to check and review evacuation vehicles including boats and trucks and proactively arrange evacuation forces. At evacuation sites, it is necessary to prepare fuel and necessities for people.
