Nam Bung is a remote and disadvantaged commune of Van Chan district, mainly inhabited by Dao ethnic people, with limited awareness. In order to raise people's awareness of waste classification and treatment at source, the district's Department of Natural Resources and Environment has supported 40 trash bins for people in Nam Puoi village. Along with that, it has coordinated with the commune People's Committee to actively propagate and guide people to self-classify and treat organic waste by microbial fermentation method.
It is known that in order to implement the Project to enhance the capacity of domestic solid waste management in Yen Bai province in the period of 2020-2025, with a vision to 2030. In the past time, Van Chan district has actively implemented the project through propaganda and guidance for people to classify waste at source during the sessions of "Weekend with the people".
Since then, people's awareness has been raised, some rural areas in the district have implemented waste classification at source, especially in areas that have met new rural and advanced new rural standards. The rate of waste classified at source in Van Chan district has so far reached over 30%.
