Mr. Le Trong Binh, Chairman of Moc Chau Town People's Committee, said: The Town People's Committee directed communes, wards and related units to review and grasp the situation of poor and near-poor households. From there, well implement policies, programs and projects to support agricultural development, ensure the right subjects, right purposes, bring practical effects, meet the needs and aspirations of the people. Along with that, propagate and mobilize people to clearly understand the policies, understand their responsibilities, self-reliantly rise up to escape poverty, not wait or rely on others.
From 2021 to present, from programs and projects, Moc Chau town authorities have organized more than 50 training courses on agricultural production for more than 1,000 participants in the form of hand-holding and instruction; implemented a project to support the development of tea production according to the community method in 3 border communes, with 198 households registered to participate, with an area of more than 100 hectares; supported more than 11,000 passion fruit trees, 21,500 tea trees, 2,000 longan trees, 3,170 pear trees, more than 26,800 kg of NPK and nitrogen fertilizers, 635 breeding cows... for families.
Mr. Mui Van Tam, Ta Lai village, Doan Ket commune, shared: In 2024, my family was supported with a breeding cow and technical staff instructed on care and disease prevention, so the cow developed well and gave birth to a calf. Currently, the cow is preparing to give birth to the second litter, my family continues to take good care of it, to soon escape poverty.
Accompanying poor and near-poor households, preferential capital from the Social Policy Bank (CSXH) becomes a lever, helping farmers develop the economy , improve their lives, and gradually escape poverty. The CSXH Bank transaction office in Moc Chau town implements 15 preferential credit programs for poor households and other policy beneficiaries. The capital is entrusted through the Farmers' Association, the Women's Union, the Veterans' Association and the Youth Union, with 255 savings and loan groups.
Mr. Pham Viet Hai, Director of the Transaction Office, said: Up to now, the Town has over 9,100 households borrowing capital, with a total outstanding debt of over 495 billion VND. From preferential capital sources, in the past 2 years, jobs have been created for nearly 4,000 workers, helping nearly 1,000 poor and near-poor households have capital to develop the economy.
With a loan of 100 million VND from the Bank for Social Policies, Mr. Thao A Gia's family in Chieng Khua commune has converted their ineffective production land to growing fruit trees. Up to now, the family has planted more than 2 hectares of longan, mango and macadamia trees combined with livestock, earning over 200 million VND per year. Mr. Gia shared: The loan helps the family develop the economy, have a stable income, and have the conditions to take care of their children's education.
To create jobs for poor households, Moc Chau town annually organizes a Job Fair, mobilizing a large number of businesses and workers to participate. Up to now, the whole town has more than 7,000 workers working in businesses inside and outside the province, working abroad. Determined to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, Moc Chau town has called for and mobilized more than 23 billion VND to eliminate 563 temporary and dilapidated houses; helping households with housing difficulties, feel secure in working and producing, rise out of poverty, and improve their lives.
With the drastic participation of the entire political system, the consensus and joint efforts of the business community and the people, up to now, the poverty rate of Moc Chau town has decreased to 2.7%. The material and spiritual life of the people has been gradually improved; the transportation system has been invested in, expanded and upgraded, promoting the socio-economic development of the town.
