Nearly 10 years ago, when she was at the peak of her career as Chairwoman of an advertising company, Doan Thi Kim Hong decided to go to the US to accompany her son Quoc Khanh. "I don't want my son to have to overcome difficulties alone. As a mother, I choose to accompany him so that he can focus completely on studying and orienting his thinking development," she shared.

During her years in the US, Kim Hong took on every job to ensure her son had the best learning environment, from taking care of every meal and sleep to physical exercise and music lessons. "I want nothing more than for my son to always be healthy, study well, be obedient, live well, love people and contribute to society," she confided.

The mother's sacrifice was well rewarded. Quoc Khanh not only graduated with honors in finance from DePaul University, Chicago, but also completed his Juris Doctorate program at Loyola University Chicago. He is now a lawyer and works at a large financial corporation, specializing in legal issues related to international finance. Notably, he was also one of the 15 best students in the world at the Law Competition in Hong Kong (China) in early 2023.

The years living in Chicago left Kim Hong with valuable experiences with her son, but also significantly affected her health. Last year, she suffered an accident that resulted in injuries, and was diagnosed with chronic headaches, cerebral thrombosis, and depression.

Kim Hong lives in California with her eldest sister Bich Lien in a family of 11 siblings. Despite facing many health challenges, the beauty still maintains a positive lifestyle through yoga, meditation, aerobics and physical therapy acupuncture. "Despite my poor health, I always try to stay optimistic. I learn to live slowly, enjoy simple things like watching the sunrise, walking in the park or playing the guitar and singing," she shared.

Not only that, Kim Hong also finds joy in listening to instrumental music, watching good movies, writing poetry and composing music. These activities help her reduce stress.

"When you slow down, you will realize that happiness does not come from big things but from the simplest moments. Good people will be rewarded. Forgiving and letting go is the way to live more peacefully," she confided. For Kim Hong, she chooses to ignore the unfortunate things in life, not letting them become a mental burden.
