Completed deal, MU medical check new recruit

Matheus Cunha is set to undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract and becoming MU's first signing in the summer transfer window of 2025.

According to journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic , MU has been officially allowed by Wolves to complete the deal to recruit Matheus Cunha after agreeing to pay the full contract release clause worth 62.5 million pounds for the Brazilian striker.

Previously, the Old Trafford team tried to negotiate a payment plan over 5 years, but was rejected by Wolves. According to BBC Sport , the two sides agreed on a new plan that MU will pay in 3 installments, each installment of 20.83 million pounds in 3 consecutive summers until June 2027.

According to the plan, Matheus Cunha will undergo a medical examination in the next few days. If there are no last-minute surprises, he will sign a 5-year contract with the "Red Devils" and make his debut in the early stages of the summer.

Cunha had a brilliant 2024/25 season for Wolves with 17 goals and 6 assists in 36 appearances, mainly in the No. 10 role. He is expected to combine well with Bruno Fernandes in coach Ruben Amorim's 3-4-2-1 formation with a flexible, fast and creative style of play.

Cunha's arrival has put Alejandro Garnacho in a difficult position. The Argentine talent was benched in the Europa League final on May 22 and is said to be unhappy. According to some sources, coach Amorim has given Garnacho the green light to find a new destination this summer.
