Hoang Duc said emotional farewell to Cong Phuong

Nguyen Hoang Duc and his teammates hope Cong Phuong will soon recover from his injury to return to the Vietnamese team in the next training session.

On the afternoon of June 3, the Vietnamese team had another training session to prepare for the match against Malaysia, the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. Before the session, coach Kim Sang Sik had a long discussion with his players about the training plan as well as the personnel situation.

Before the training session, the Vietnamese team received bad news from Cong Phuong. The 30-year-old striker suffered a foot injury and had to say goodbye to the team.

Hoang Duc said: "It's been a long time since Cong Phuong returned, so we are excited and welcome him. However, unfortunately Phuong is injured. This is a big loss for the Vietnamese team before the match against Malaysia."

"No one is happy when they know they are injured. We encourage Cong Phuong to get treatment and return soon," Hoang Duc said.

Preparing for the match against Malaysia, Hoang Duc said he and his teammates carefully watched the video footage of their opponents. The Vietnamese team is determined to have a good match in the upcoming away match.

Coach Kim Sang Sik continuously makes changes to the Vietnamese team's personnel due to the "storm" of injuries.

The Vietnamese team will practice until June 5, then leave for Malaysia.

Despite many difficulties, Xuan Manh and his teammates are confident of achieving favorable results.

According to the plan, on June 4, the Vietnamese team will have an internal practice session. Coach Kim Sang Sik will likely choose the most suitable squad after this closed practice session.
