High school students are officially taking a new subject: artificial intelligence.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has just issued the framework for piloting artificial intelligence (AI) education for high school students.

Accordingly, the AI ​​education content framework for students is developed based on four main knowledge areas: human-centered thinking, AI ethics, AI techniques and applications, and AI system design.

The curriculum is designed to correspond to two stages of education, with primary and lower secondary education being basic education, and upper secondary education being career-oriented education.

At the primary school level, students primarily experience simple, intuitive AI applications to form initial concepts and recognize the role of AI in their lives.

At the middle school level, students learn how to use AI tools to create digital products and solve academic problems.

At the high school level, students are encouraged to explore, design, and improve simple AI tools through science projects.

In addition to core educational content, students can choose elective courses to enhance practical skills, gain deeper insights into AI application areas, or learn programming techniques and AI system development.

The Ministry of Education and Training encourages teachers to teach AI using project-based learning. Lessons should be organized flexibly and create interest for students.

One notable point is that some important topics such as AI ethics, risk identification, and policy analysis can be taught through discussions, debates, and case studies without the need for computers. Students not only propose solutions but also need to be able to verify and evaluate the effectiveness and ethical and humanistic aspects of those solutions.

The assessment will closely follow the AI ​​competency components and core content areas. Specifically, for content areas related to ethics, data, and law, the assessment will combine case studies with observation of students' attitudes, behaviors, and responsibilities in a digital environment.

Teachers also need to organize presentations, debates, and AI product exhibitions to foster critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills in students.
