Private school students receive tuition support from the State, up to 650,000 VND/month.

(Dan Tri) - In the 2025-2026 school year, private school students will receive tuition support according to Decree 238 of the Government, with a maximum of 650,000 VND at junior high and high school levels.

Decree 238 of the Government on tuition policy, exemption, reduction, tuition support, learning cost support and service prices in the field of education and training stipulates the tuition fee framework from the 2025-2026 school year.

Accordingly, each level of education has a floor and ceiling. The lowest tuition fee for preschool and primary school is 50,000 VND/month and the highest is 540,000 VND/month. The ceiling fee for secondary and high school is 650,000 VND/month, the floor fee is 50,000 VND and 100,000 VND respectively.

The above tuition framework is the basis for determining the level of tuition support for private preschool children and students of private schools. At the same time, this is also the basis for the State to determine the level of budget subsidies for public schools.

This tuition fee framework applies for the 2025-2026 school year. In the next 10 years, the tuition fee ceiling will be adjusted at a rate appropriate to the socio -economic conditions of each locality, the consumer price index growth rate, and the annual economic growth rate, but not exceeding 7.5%/year.

Regarding payment, the State will provide money directly to private school students.

The provincial People's Committee will submit to the People's Council of the same level to issue tuition support levels for preschool children and primary school students at private and non-public schools in the area, ensuring that the support level does not exceed the school's revenue.

Private schools determine tuition fees based on the principle of ensuring cost recovery and accumulation according to the provisions of the Law on Prices. Schools must also publicly disclose tuition fees; be accountable to students and society about the tuition fees and prices of services they decide; explain the price components, roadmap, and tuition fee increase rate for the following years, but not more than 10% per year.

Along with tuition support of up to 650,000 VND/month, primary school students at private schools in Hanoi are also supported with boarding meals of 20,000 VND/day.

From the 2025-2026 school year, preschool children and students from grade 1 to public schools nationwide will be completely exempt from tuition fees.

As for service revenues and support for school educational activities, the Provincial People's Committee will submit them to the People's Council at the same level for decision, in accordance with the actual situation of the locality and region.
