Provincial Veterans Association: Summarizing 20 years of implementing Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW of the Politburo (9th term)

On September 27, the Provincial Veterans Association held a conference to review 20 years of implementing Resolution No. 09-NQ/TW, dated January 8, 2002 of the Politburo (9th tenure) on strengthening the Party's leadership over Vietnam's war veterans' work in the new revolutionary period. Attending and directing the conference were comrades Pham Van Hau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Nguyen Long Bien, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Over the past 20 years, the Provincial Association of War Veterans has always attached importance to the work of building a strong and comprehensive Association organization. From 4,239 members (in 2002), the Association has now developed to more than 6,700 members. Implementing the movement of helping each other develop the economy, the Association at all levels has reduced the number of poor members by 1,031; the rate of well-off and rich households has increased; 1,007 temporary houses have been eliminated with a total amount of over 30 billion VND. The Association at all levels has also coordinated well in implementing programs, organizing and launching movements and campaigns, such as: "Skilled mass mobilization", "All people join hands to build a green - clean - beautiful Ninh Thuan ", "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas", "All people protect national security"... through which many members of the Association of War Veterans have actively participated in contributing money, donating more than 27,000 m2 of land for construction works serving people's lives...

Speaking at the conference, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee acknowledged and commended the achievements of the Veterans Association at all levels over the past 20 years. He suggested that in the coming time, the Association at all levels should continue to thoroughly grasp Resolution 09-NQ/TW, dated January 8, 2002 of the Politburo ; Conclusion No. 66-KL/TW, dated March 4, 2010 of the Secretariat to create high unity in awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, cadres, party members and members towards the position and role of the Veterans Association and the work of veterans in the new period.
