Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association: Strengthening local links, promoting multi-field cooperation

Attending the conference were Mr. Phan Chi Hieu, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences , President of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association; representatives of the Union of Friendship Organizations, Vietnam - Russia Friendship Associations of 31 provinces and cities across the country.

At the Conference, delegates looked back on the Association’s development journey, shared experiences, and proposed solutions to improve the quality of people-to-people diplomacy in the new period. Many opinions emphasized the role of the younger generation, intellectuals and businessmen in promoting cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, especially in the fields of culture,education , science - technology and communications.

Information at the Conference said that since the beginning of the year, the Association at all levels has effectively maintained solidarity, friendship and exchange activities with Russian friends in Vietnam. The Central Committee of the Association successfully organized the 75th Anniversary of the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Association/Traditional Day of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association and the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, and established the Vietnam - Russia Cooperation Center, an important focal point in promoting comprehensive bilateral cooperation.

In addition, local Associations and branches have organized many meaningful activities on major holidays such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet people.

VNA quoted Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province, as saying that the province always pays attention to and closely directs people-to-people diplomacy, including the activities of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association of Hai Duong province. The association has attracted a large number of members, becoming a bridge for Vietnamese people who have studied, worked and lived in Russia.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung also introduced to the Central Committee and representatives of the Russia - Vietnam Friendship Association the development potential and outstanding achievements of Hai Duong: economic growth rate in 2024 is estimated at 10.2%, ranking 6th in the country; has 601 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered capital of nearly 11 billion USD; owns 3,199 historical, cultural and scenic relics.

Ms. Svetlana Evgenevna Galzunova, representative of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, expressed her emotion when witnessing the good traditional relations between the two countries continue to be preserved and developed. She shared that Vietnam is always her second homeland and pledged to convey the recommendations and cooperation proposals of the Vietnamese side to the leaders of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association.

Ms. Svetlana also hopes that the newly established Vietnam - Russia Cooperation Center will be a bridge to promote extensive cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Regarding the future direction, Mr. Phan Chi Hieu, Chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, suggested that local associations in the merged provinces and cities proactively arrange their organizations, develop appropriate action programs and discuss with the Central Association to unify the direction. At the same time, encourage exchange activities and experience sharing between local associations and branches, through the connecting role of the Central Association to spread the image of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association more widely in society.

In particular, the Association will focus on effectively implementing the activities of the Vietnam - Russia Cooperation Center, aiming to promote multi-field cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, especially in economics, trade, science - technology, education - training, culture and tourism.
