Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Vuong The Man - Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade emphasized: The conference is very important. This is not only a simple trade event, but also a strategic connection forum, creating opportunities for localities to share experiences in regional economic development, especially after the merger of provinces, cities and 2-level local governments into operation; helping businesses find partners, promote production - consumption chain linkages and trade promotion organizations propose solutions to develop export markets.

In order to promote economic development in the Northwest region, especially in the field of production, processing and consumption of agricultural products, it is necessary to develop production according to the value chain, closely linking the stages of production - harvesting - processing - consumption, ensuring compliance with quality standards, food safety and clear traceability. This is an essential requirement to improve competitiveness and meet domestic and international market trends.

At the same time, promote deep processing, apply high science and technology to the production, preservation and processing of agricultural products; build, promote and position the brand of agricultural products of the Northwest highlands on the trade map of Vietnam and the world; strengthen regional linkages, expand cooperation between provinces, between enterprises and cooperatives, and farmers; promote trade promotion activities, connect markets and digital transformation in agricultural value chain management. Digital transformation is not only an inevitable trend, but also the key to help Northwest agricultural products reach further and integrate more deeply into the global supply chain.

At the conference, delegates watched a video introducing the potential and strengths of localities in the Northwest region; results of trade promotion activities in the Northwest region in the first 9 months of 2025 and a number of tasks and solutions for trade promotion in the coming time.

Accordingly, in the first 9 months of 2025, the provinces in the Northwest region (Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Son La) have actively implemented many domestic trade promotion programs, associated with national trade promotion projects and e-commerce development programs. The activities were organized in a rich and creative manner, contributing to promoting the image of the Northwest region as dynamic, integrated and rich in development potential.

Localities have participated in and organized over 40 fairs, exhibitions, and trade connection events in many provinces/cities across the country and important events of the Central and local levels. Thereby, it has created a positive communication effect, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and consumers of products from the Northwest region; supporting and connecting over 300 businesses, cooperatives, and production and business households to participate in displaying and introducing products at events.

The Northwestern provinces continue to expand trade promotion activities to international markets, especially China, Laos, the EU and Russia, with many trade programs, fairs, surveys and investment cooperation, contributing to increasing trade and export of agricultural products and rural industries of the Northwestern region; sending working delegations and enterprises to participate in fairs and some survey and trade programs abroad. Signing cooperation agreements with Chinese partners (Zhejiang, Yunnan), Laos, achieving many results. State management of trade promotion has been strengthened, coordination between central and local agencies has become increasingly close, improving the effectiveness of trade promotion activities.

The conference also held a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between units and enterprises on supporting the consumption of agricultural products of Lai Chau province to strengthen the connection, support product consumption, and expand the market.
