The conference was chaired by Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association ; Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association in charge of the South.
Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized that emulation movements at the central and local levels, especially writing contests on advanced models and new rural construction, have contributed significantly to introducing, promoting, and promoting emulation movements, encouraging new factors and advanced models in all areas of social life; arousing the spirit of creativity and social responsibility of journalists, actively contributing to the construction and protection of the Fatherland.
“In 2024, the emulation and reward work of the Vietnam Journalists Association will continue to be implemented synchronously, enthusiastically, practically and effectively, creating a strong spread throughout the association, contributing to propaganda work, orienting public opinion and building a spirit of solidarity and efforts of all members,” said Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi.
However, the Standing Vice President of the Association also pointed out the limitations that need to be overcome. He said that the emulation and reward movement has not developed comprehensively, evenly and continuously; many places are still heavily formalistic, not closely linked to political tasks and propaganda work; some emulation movements have not had a high spreading effect; the work of summarizing and concluding at some levels of the association has not been given due importance.
Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized the need to proactively and promptly reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements.
Many association units have not proactively and promptly given rewards to groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in professional activities, association activities, social and charity activities, and have been slow to discover and replicate advanced models; the number of people proposed for rewards who are reporters, editors, and full-time staff at the association is not high.
“In the coming time, the Vietnam Journalists Association aims to continue to innovate and improve the quality of emulation and reward work, overcome the limitations that have been pointed out, in order to create stronger motivation for the development of Vietnam's revolutionary press,” Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi emphasized.
Reporting on the summary of emulation and reward work in 2024, Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, emphasized the importance of effective coordination between the association and relevant departments and ministries. He said that this cooperation has contributed to the success of many writing contests and thematic journalism awards, focusing on key issues of the country.
Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association, reported on the summary of emulation and reward work in 2024 and key tasks in 2025.
"We have worked closely to successfully organize writing contests and journalism awards on anti-corruption, protecting the Party's ideological foundation, and protecting the sovereignty of seas and islands. In particular, we have issued guidelines for all levels of the association to implement patriotic emulation movements, towards important historical events of the press and the association," said Mr. Tran Trong Dung.
One of the bright spots in 2024 is the positive response of the association at all levels and press agencies to the movement "Building a cultural environment in press agencies" and the set of 12 cultural criteria. According to Mr. Tran Trong Dung, this movement has created positive changes in consolidating and building the association to be increasingly clean and strong.
Mr. Tran Trong Dung informed that the Association at all levels closely followed the Emulation and Reward Regulations, the Guidelines for summarizing the emulation and reward work of the Vietnam Journalists Association. In 2024, the Provincial and Municipal Journalists Associations; Inter-Associations; and Sub-Associations decided to award certificates of merit to 140 groups and 737 individuals. The Emulation and Reward Council of the Vietnam Journalists Association reviewed the list of rewards and proposed that the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association decide to award Emulation Flags to 21 groups, certificates of merit to 28 groups and 51 individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's activities in 2024.
In the overall picture of the emulation and reward activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association, local associations play a key role in concretizing policies and launching practical emulation movements.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tu, Chairman of Hai Phong Journalists Association, spoke at the Conference.
"Our emulation movement does not pursue achievements but focuses on the actual contributions of members to the development of the city's press and the common cause of Hai Phong. The emulation results are an important measure for us to review, evaluate and propose rewards for individuals and groups with outstanding achievements.
Thanks to that, in the period of 2019-2024, many individuals and groups of the association received noble awards from the central and city levels, and the association was also honored. This achievement was achieved thanks to the attention and direction of all levels and the innovation of the association's operating methods," emphasized Mr. Nguyen Anh Tu, Chairman of the Hai Phong Journalists Association.
At the conference, many opinions said: Timely rewards are a key motivation. Competition must be associated with timely recognition and rewards to create spiritual motivation to liberate the creative capacity and dedication of workers. Each title achieved is the result of a process of persistent efforts, constant creativity and self-cultivation of groups and individuals.
