In order to contribute to reducing the harmful effects of tobacco and improving the quality of the working environment, the Farmers' Association of Luong Son District ( Hoa Binh Province) has implemented many specific activities to build a smoke-free workplace. This is one of the important contents in the work of preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco that the unit has determined to implement long-term and seriously.
The Association has increased the dissemination of the Law on Prevention of Tobacco Harms to all staff and members. In the agency premises, no-smoking signs are posted in easily visible locations such as hallways, meeting rooms, and offices. The unit does not allow advertising, marketing, or selling of tobacco; and does not use items such as ashtrays and lighters in public areas of the agency.
The content of "no smoking" is included in the emulation criteria of cadres and civil servants to increase self-awareness and responsibility in implementation. In addition, the Association also coordinated with the Center for Disease Control of Hoa Binh province to organize a training course on smoke-free environment for 30 farmer members, contributing to improving knowledge and propaganda skills at the grassroots level.
Mr. Bui Quang Khai - Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Luong Son district said that building a smoke-free workplace not only helps protect the health of workers but also creates a professional and civilized working environment. In the context of non-communicable diseases such as lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease are increasing, controlling cigarette smoke in the workplace is becoming more and more necessary.
Luong Son District Farmers' Association is continuing to maintain and expand this model, aiming for a truly and sustainable smoke-free office environment.
