Since the launch of the iPhone, accidentally deleting photos permanently and being unable to recover them has always been a problem for users, who have hoped Apple could provide support. Now, "reviving" them is no longer an impossible task.
Reportedly, Apple's iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia updates will add a new album called "Recovered" to the Photos app. This album is designed to help iPhone and iPad users find lost, corrupted, or permanently deleted photos and videos on their devices.
Additionally, when Apple users upgrade to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, the device will automatically scan for recoverable photo and video files and display them in the "Recovery" album located in the "Utilities" section of the Photos app.
It's worth noting that the "Recovered" album will operate completely separately from the "Recently Deleted" album – which temporarily stores images users delete within the last 30 days before they are permanently deleted. However, Apple has not yet made an official announcement regarding whether photos and videos in the Recovered album will be automatically deleted after a certain period of time.
In addition, Apple quickly fixed a bug that caused some iPhone users to unexpectedly find deleted photos in their photo library in iOS 17.5. Apple also stated that this was a "rare bug" that could occur on a few devices with "corrupted photo databases."
It's safe to say that Apple has received widespread positive feedback from tech users for creating the "Recovered" album feature. Besides satisfying customers, this feature provides users with peace of mind when using iPhone and iPad products. This feature promises to help users "recover" photos or videos they accidentally deleted.
Apple has officially released public beta versions of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and several other updates. However, the official release will take place this fall.
