Currently, Samsung and Google are the two leading brands in the foldable phone market. IDC believes the iPhone Fold will quickly capture over 22% of the market share in terms of volume and 34% of the market value, thanks to its expected starting price of $2,400.

The foldable smartphone market is expected to grow by 30% by 2026 thanks to Apple's entry. In addition, Samsung is also continuing to drive the market with its Galaxy Z Trifold foldable phone, expected to launch in January 2026.

According to ET News , Apple has ordered 22 million OLED panels from Samsung Display for the production of its first foldable iPhone. This number is significantly larger than initial expert predictions, indicating Apple's high expectations for the product.

A report from 9to5mac indicates that Apple has completely resolved the issues related to the screen crease on foldable iPhones. Samsung is the exclusive supplier of foldable screens for this product line.

However, Apple is believed to have been heavily involved in the design of the display panel and folding mechanism to completely eliminate creases on the screen. Accordingly, the panel structure, material processing, and multi-layer screen lamination method were all developed by Apple.

A source from South Korea revealed that Apple is testing a battery with a capacity of 5,400-5,800mAh. This battery capacity is significantly higher than the 5,088mAh in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Meanwhile, Instant Digital claims that the battery in the foldable iPhone will definitely have a capacity of over 5,000mAh.

For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 has a 4,400mAh battery, the Google Pixel Fold has a 4,821mAh battery, and the Honor Magic V5 has a 5,820mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Vivo X Fold 5 integrates a 6,000mAh battery, the largest in the foldable phone segment.

Some previous leaks suggested that the foldable iPhone would integrate a selfie camera beneath the screen. This camera would have a 24MP resolution and be placed on the inner display.
