The workshop is part of the ASEAN Heritage Parks Conservation and Sustainable Management Project (SGP II) funded by the German Development Bank (KfW) through the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity ( ACB ).

At the workshop, delegates were introduced to traditional products associated with the biodiversity of Hoang Lien National Park designed and produced by members of interest groups, including images of project activities and applicable products (tablecloths, lanterns, traditional costumes in new design styles, etc.).

Representatives of departments, agencies, enterprises, cooperatives, and community groups exchanged and discussed patterns, motifs, cultural values, and applicability of products designed by community groups. At the same time, they proposed initiatives to preserve and develop traditional handicraft products associated with biodiversity factors in Hoang Lien National Park.

Sa Pa town implemented the project from January 2025, with 3 handicraft interest groups in Lao Hang Chai village, Hoang Lien commune; Seo My Ty village, Ta Van commune; Ban Den village, Ban Ho commune. With the help and support of the project, the groups have designed and created unique traditional handicraft products with modern and environmentally friendly motifs.

The workshop aims to promote and introduce traditional products associated with biodiversity of Hoang Lien National Park to local authorities, businesses, and cooperatives in Sa Pa town in particular and Lao Cai province in general. Thereby promoting and building a development network for products that bring economic value to the community.
