On September 30, the Department of Planning and Investment of Son La province coordinated with the Representative Office of Cowater International (Great Project Management Consultant) to organize the Workshop "Managing sustainable tourism destinations ".
Attending the workshop were representatives of the Australian Embassy. in Vietnam; Great Project Management Consultant; Clickable Vietnam Co., Ltd.; leaders of some provincial departments and branches; leaders of Muong La and Moc Chau districts; representatives of some units, enterprises and cooperatives in the tourism sector in the province.
Implementing the tourism development plan for 2024, in our province, by September, two targets have been completed, including: Moc Chau National Tourist Area is recognized as a National Tourist Area; Son La hydroelectric reservoir area is included in the national tourism system planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. The targets for welcoming tourists and tourism revenue are close to reaching the target, with about 3,873 thousand tourists, estimated revenue of 4,565 billion VND. Regarding tourism development orientation, Son La province plans to develop tourism including 5 tourism products: Eco-tourism, agriculture ; cultural and historical tourism; community tourism; resort, entertainment and health tourism; thematic tourism (festivals, sports, adventure ...) ...
Participating in the workshop, representatives of the State management agencies in the fields of tourism and agriculture of the province, lecturers of Tourism and Entrepreneurship, Institute of Business Administration, VinUniversity, representatives of Clickable Company Limited... presented papers on: Overview, orientation and current status of tourism destination management in Son La province; building an effective destination management model, developing sustainable tourism; enhancing the effectiveness of tourism investment through the connection between businesses and local communities; strengthening the connection between tourism and agriculture; opportunities, challenges and recommendations; experience in developing responsible tourism products.
Delegates focused on discussing and sharing difficulties, proposing solutions, enhancing sustainable destination management with participation of all parties; enhancing the participation of local businesses in the process of planning tourism investment and development; developing responsible tourism products, preserving cultural values and protecting the environment; and coordinating between the agricultural and tourism sectors.
* The workshop also included discussion programs on the topics "Enhancing the role of businesses and local communities in building and managing destinations"; "Promoting the role of tourism businesses and local communities in tourism investment planning". Delegates focused on discussing solutions to improve destination management processes, bringing benefits to many stakeholders; sharing good practices and case studies on destination management models; identifying core tourism products and differences in the two pilot districts of Moc Chau and Muong La; reviewing and evaluating the current investment planning process; recommendations to attract ethnic women to participate in investment planning with both the public and private sectors...

The workshop has equipped and improved the capacity and knowledge of destination management, shared experiences in tourism development of enterprises and tourism cooperatives. At the same time, it has strengthened the exchange and cooperation relationship with domestic and international localities, bringing Son La province's tourism to a new level, increasingly attracting domestic and foreign tourists to visit and experience.
