Over 100 billion VND to build new rural areas in Kien Giang

With a socialized budget of over 100 billion VND, the armed forces of Kien Giang province have implemented many practical tasks to join hands in building new rural areas.

On July 19, the Military Command of Kien Giang province solemnly held the Emulation Congress for Victory of the provincial armed forces, period 2019-2024.

At the congress, Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Luu Trung affirmed: Over the past 5 years, the Emulation movement to win of Kien Giang Provincial Armed Forces has developed comprehensively, increasingly in-depth and achieved quite solid results; becoming a great spiritual motivation to encourage and motivate cadres and soldiers of the provincial armed forces to promote the good qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", proactively overcome difficulties, and excellently complete all assigned tasks.

The emulation activities for mass mobilization were carried out vigorously and effectively, closely linked with the emulation movements: Kien Giang Armed Forces join hands to build new rural areas; Kien Giang Armed Forces join hands for the poor - leaving no one behind.

In the period of 2019 - 2024, with a socialized budget of over 100 billion VND, the provincial military has implemented many practical and meaningful tasks, joining hands with local Party committees, authorities and people to build new rural areas.

Notably, 627 Comrade Houses and Great Solidarity Houses were built; over 60km of roads and 42 rural bridges were renovated; and over 8,900 policy families and families affected by natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic were visited and given gifts.

Provided free medical examination and medicine to over 7,100 people, supported over 10,500 m3 of clean water to help people overcome drought and salinity, and participated in nearly 43,000 working days to help people, with a value of over 13 billion VND.

Emulation activities to carry out the task of searching and collecting martyrs' remains associated with the movement of "repaying gratitude" were launched widely. 511 martyrs' remains were searched and collected in 4 provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia and 163 martyrs' remains were sacrificed in the province. 1 provincial defense area exercise was organized; 7,705 citizens were selected and called to join the army...

Speaking at the congress, Major General Nguyen Van Tien, Deputy Commander of Military Region 9, praised and congratulated the achievements of the provincial armed forces in the past time. Deputy Commander of Military Region 9 Nguyen Van Tien suggested that in the coming time, the provincial armed forces strengthen the leadership of Party committees, political commissars, and commanders, promote the role and responsibility of the emulation council, political agencies and cadres working on emulation and rewards.

Taking advantage of the attention and direction of local authorities, closely coordinating with agencies, sectors and organizations to effectively implement the Emulation movement to win, the Patriotic Emulation movement, creating a combined strength, promoting the emulation movement to develop extensively and sustainably.

Innovate the content, form, and methods of organizing emulation movements in the direction of focusing on the grassroots, closely linking emulation with rewards, evaluating rewards fairly, democratically, and publicly, and bringing about exemplary education.
