On October 31, Ho Chi Minh City Police organized a fire prevention and rescue drill at Saigon Centre building, Le Loi street, Saigon ward, Ho Chi Minh City with more than 3,000 participants. The initial hypothetical situation was a motorbike fire in the basement, then the fire spread very quickly to surrounding vehicles, creating a loud explosion. The fire and toxic gas quickly spread to all floors of the building in all directions. Fire alarms rang throughout the building, thousands of people panicked. The power supply was cut, the elevator could not be used, many people jostled, pushed, trampled to find a way out, creating a chaotic scene.

Immediately after receiving the fire alarm, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department mobilized many specialized fire trucks, firefighting robots, medical support ambulances and hundreds of Fire Prevention and Fighting Police and Rescue officers and soldiers to the rescue.

The Fire Police and Rescue Force were divided into many teams to coordinate smoothly. The 100-member grassroots firefighting force quickly activated the automatic fire alarm system, used powder extinguishers and wall hydrants in the basement to control the initial fire, and at the same time guided thousands of people to safety. Professional teams approached the scene from Le Loi and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia streets, simultaneously deploying fire trucks, ladder trucks, robot trucks, pump trucks, smoke extraction trucks and rescue vehicles to handle the incident.

After 30 minutes, the fire at the Saigon Centre building was completely controlled, and people were taken to safety by the rescue force. The drill ended in the applause and excitement of the people with the determination of the Fire Police and Rescue Police of Ho Chi Minh City. Through that, the Fire Police and Rescue Police of Ho Chi Minh City also propagated and instructed people on how to overcome and escape when an incident occurs.
