In order to prevent people, especially those in mountainous and remote areas, from falling into hunger, officers and soldiers of Military Region 5, the Military Command and the Da Nang City Police, along with local forces and authorities, have crossed forests and streams, using manpower to transport food and essential supplies to isolated residential areas.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 31, after hours of struggling in the mud, the forces of Military Region 5, on-site rescue teams and Quang Nam Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company (the unit managing National Highway 40B) temporarily cleared the large landslide point. However, after many days of heavy rain, National Highway 40B - the vital road connecting the plains with the highlands of Da Nang city - continued to be cut off due to serious landslides.

Colonel Nguyen Van Hoa, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5 Command, said that in order to overcome the difficulties caused by landslides blocking many roads, in the past few days, the forces involved in transporting food and essential foodstuffs to the people have used many different means and methods, but mainly human power to bring food to the people.

At the water wharf area of Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Plant, specialized trucks of Da Nang City Police continuously transported goods, food, drinking water and lunch boxes to the water's edge. Dozens of police officers and soldiers, along with local forces, urgently loaded and unloaded each box of goods from the trucks to waiting motorboats. Boats loaded with necessities quickly cut through the waves on the Song Tranh Hydropower Plant reservoir, continuing their journey through floodwaters to bring food to the still-isolated residential areas.

On Highway 40B, relief goods were transported by trucks to the landslide sites. From there, the rescue forces had to divide up the goods, handing over bags of rice, boxes of noodles, and cans of water. Each person carried a section, then continued to pass it on to others, overcoming a distance of more than 200 meters covered in deep mud due to the landslide.

Not only on the main route, many small groups including soldiers, police, militia and volunteers were also mobilized to the maximum, following self-opened trails in the forest to approach remote and isolated villages.

Mr. Ho Van Nghia shared that in the past few days, he and the officers and soldiers of the armed forces have been involved in overcoming landslides, helping people get to safe places, and transporting food to people in remote areas, so everyone is exhausted. However, when handing out each gift to the people, everyone feels relieved and warm.

Prolonged floods and landslides in many places have severely damaged the telecommunications infrastructure of Da Nang city. To quickly restore the system, ensure smooth communication to serve the direction and operation of flood response, overcome the consequences of natural disasters and the connection needs of the people, immediately after the water receded, VNPT Da Nang city urgently deployed hundreds of working groups to implement disaster prevention and information rescue plans.

On the broken cable lines, technical staff urgently connected the fiber optic cable circuits, transported mobile equipment to the damaged locations for repair and replacement, in order to stabilize the information soon. Thanks to the initiative and continuous efforts of the technical staff, up to now, the communication system in the city, especially in remote areas, has been basically restored, ensuring stable operation again.

One of the urgent tasks after the flood passes is to quickly restore a stable and safe power supply network for the people.

Mr. Le Hong Cuong, Director of Da Nang Electricity Company, said: as of 9:00 a.m. on November 1, the entire city still had 729 transformer stations that had not yet restored power supply, accounting for 7.1% of the total 10,277 stations; the number of customers without power was 71,264, equivalent to 8.1% of the total 876,552 customers. Compared to 7:00 p.m. on October 31, there were 35,067 more customers - equivalent to 4% of the total number of customers whose power supply had been restored.

The company is mobilizing its maximum force of 750 technical staff, skilled workers, along with 67 vehicles and equipment, to urgently approach the scene, inspect and fix the power grid problem. The unit also closely coordinates with local authorities and functional agencies to ensure electrical safety during the repair process, striving to stabilize the safe power supply throughout the city as soon as possible.
