Da Nang and Tam Ky City of Quang Nam let students stay home from school due to prolonged heavy rain, causing flooding in many places.
On the afternoon of October 15, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang said that heavy rain continued to fall in many areas of the city, causing flooding. To ensure the safety of preschool children, pupils and students, the Department informed the education departments of districts, schools, centers and private universities to close on October 16. The University of Da Nang also assigned its member universities and affiliated units to proactively decide to let students, trainees and staff take time off from school and work to ensure safety, especially in low-lying areas.
Da Nang has more than 290,000 students from kindergarten to high school.
This is the second decision to let students stay home from school in the past three days. After heavy rains that lasted from the morning of October 13, the Department requested that non-boarding students stay home; boarding schools, kindergartens, and students still attend classes in the afternoon.
Due to heavy rains and floods, many schools were flooded and inundated with mud. The schools proactively moved equipment, teaching aids, and student books to higher ground, so there was little damage to property.

The Department of Education requires the organization to assign 24/7 duty at the unit with the motto of four on-site. Regularly update information on the current heavy rain situation, maintain contact through many channels to proactively respond safely, reduce damage caused by heavy rain. The weather situation is still complicated and prolonged, the Department will have further announcements.
Similarly, the Department of Education and Training of Tam Ky City (Quang Nam) requested school principals to let preschoolers, kindergarteners, primary and secondary school students stay home to avoid heavy rain and flooding. Tam Ky has more than 24,600 students from preschool to secondary school.

After October 16, school principals, depending on the actual situation in the locality, if they deem it necessary to continue to let students stay home from school to ensure student safety, will report to the office.
During the school break, the school will inform parents and all students not to go near flooded areas, not to collect firewood, or catch fish in rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, etc. to prevent drowning.
The Department of Education recommends that schools move documents, books, equipment and technical means to safe places to avoid getting wet and damaged; turn off all electrical equipment when the room is unoccupied to prevent electrical short circuits to ensure school and classroom safety during floods.
After the rain subsided and the water receded, schools and classrooms were urgently cleaned, teaching and learning were quickly stabilized, and absolute safety was ensured for students when they returned to school.
