
On the morning of June 16, 4,851 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City participated in the survey to enter grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School. With the school's enrollment target of 350, the "competition" ratio is up to 1/14, higher than the 2024 enrollment season.

The school's admission targets are students who have completed primary school in Ho Chi Minh City, with a score of 9 or higher in the final exam of each subject, Vietnamese and Math, grade 5.

From early morning, many parents brought their children to the exam site, giving them hugs and words of encouragement before entering this exam with extremely high competition.

Candidates gathered in the school yard to wait for teachers to guide them to the examination room. The examination site at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted has 720 candidates, divided into 30 rooms.

Ho Thai Lam, a student at Nguyen Thuong Hien Primary School, was a bit sleepy as he lined up for the exam. He said he was most confident in English. "In addition to studying at school and taking extra classes, I also spend a lot of time reviewing at home," Lam shared.

Thien An and her friends reviewed the exam regulations. Candidates are not allowed to bring electronic devices such as cell phones and smart watches into the exam room.

Uy Long (Tran Van On Primary School) was taken to the exam site early by his family. "I had breakfast, prepared everything, and was ready to take the exam," Long said.

On the morning of June 16, many candidates and parents who went to the wrong exam location were discovered by security forces, volunteer students, and teachers and guided to the correct exam location and on time.

At around 7:15 a.m., candidates completed the procedures to enter the examination room for grade 6 admission to Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School.

The school's 6th grade entrance exam consists of 2 parts: essay and multiple choice, in both English and Vietnamese. The test time is 90 minutes.

The multiple choice test consists of 20 English questions, to be completed in 30 minutes, revolving around knowledge of natural sciences , society and life.
The essay section lasts 60 minutes and assesses English proficiency (listening, reading, writing), logical thinking, mathematics and writing in Vietnamese.

Based on the survey results, the Department will consider admission from high to low until the quota is met. Students who do not pass the 6th grade entrance exam at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School will be considered for admission according to local regulations.
This year, the school’s 6th grade quota has decreased significantly compared to before the separation. In previous years, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted recruited about 535 6th grade students.
