According to the plan, at 8:00 a.m. on June 4, candidates must gather to complete procedures, be informed of exam regulations, and then take the 60-minute general English exam. However, from 6:30 a.m., many parents and students were present at all 8 exam locations to prepare for the first exam.

Registering for the English specialized class, Tran Nguyet Ha, a student at Tran Duy Hung Secondary School (Cau Giay), was shocked to learn that the competition rate for this specialized class was 1/22.9, meaning that on average only one out of 23 students was accepted. "As soon as I learned the competition rate, I had to 'wind up' and study hard, overcoming my weaknesses so as not to lose points," Ha said.
Since completing her studies at school, she has studied English for about 4 hours a day, and the rest of the time is spent on other subjects. She also enrolled in a separate English essay writing class to improve her writing skills.
Previously, Nguyet Ha had passed the entrance exam to the Foreign Language Specialized High School with a fair result. “This helped me get used to the exam room mentality better, and gain more confidence to take the exam at the Pedagogical Specialized School and two specialized schools of the Department of Education and Training, Amsterdam and Chu Van An,” the female student shared.

At 5:30 a.m., Ms. Nguyen Hoai Anh and her daughter took a bus from Son Tay, traveling more than 35km to take the entrance exam to Hanoi National University of Education High School. Ms. Hoai Anh said she did not feel too much pressure because she considered letting her daughter take this exam as an experience.
“Many parents are worried, but I’m not too stressed. My child has clear goals and is very self-motivated in her studies. No matter what the result is, she has done her best,” said Ms. Hoai Anh. Previously, Ha An - her daughter - had completed the entrance exam to the Foreign Language Specialized High School with positive results. This mother plans to rent a motel near the school for her child’s convenience during the two days of the exam.
This year, the total number of candidates applying to the University of Education High School for the Gifted is more than 5,700, while only 420 positions are available. The increase in applications is mainly in the English specialized class, with a competition ratio of 1/22.9. Following is the IT specialized class with a competition ratio of 1/19.1. The Literature, Physics and Biology specialized classes all have competition ratios of over 12.

The new point of this year's 10th grade entrance exam for Pedagogy is that candidates will have to take 4 subjects, plus a general subject of English, with a test time of 60 minutes.
The general Math and General Literature subjects will combine 70% essay and 30% multiple choice, with a test time of 120 minutes. Last year, the test format for these exams was 100% essay, with a test time of 90 minutes.
In addition, the test time for specialized subjects also increased to 150 minutes, except for specialized subjects for English and Chemistry majors, which have a test time of 120 minutes.

Candidates included in the admission list must be qualified candidates, take all 4 exams, not violate exam regulations, and have no exam score below 3.5 points.
For candidates taking the entrance exam for specialized classes in Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography, the scores in Literature (round 1) and English (round 1) are conditions and are not used to calculate the admission score. The admission score is the total score in Mathematics (round 1) multiplied by a factor of 1 and the score in specialized subjects multiplied by a factor of 2.
For candidates taking the entrance exam for specialized Literature classes, the Math (round 1) and English (round 1) scores are conditions and are not used to calculate the admission score. The admission score is the total score of the Literature exam (round 1) multiplied by a factor of 1 and the specialized exam score multiplied by a factor of 2.
For candidates taking the English major exam, the Literature (round 1) and Math (round 1) scores are conditions and are not used to calculate the admission score. The admission score is the total English (round 1) score multiplied by a factor of 1 and the specialized subject score multiplied by a factor of 2.
The exam results will be announced by the school before June 30.
