The information was given at a press conference to share the content of the Healthcare Innovation Network program - Digital transformation for lung health, organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association on December 15 in Hanoi.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tu, Permanent Vice President - General Secretary of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association, said that early detection of lung cancer through screening is extremely important to increase treatment effectiveness and reduce costs. However, due to difficulties in early detection, the mortality rate remains high. Therefore, the Vietnam Young Physicians Association will provide health consultation and screening for people with risk factors, with activities such as general medical examination, X-ray, ultrasound, electrocardiogram, blood sugar testing, and public health programs for the people.
Doctors also provide health and nutrition advice to people, instruct people on self-care and the use of home health care platforms, and provide remote health advice to people. “The Vietnam Young Physicians Association will also apply screening through a questionnaire using AI, comparing the doctor's X-ray results with the results read by AI,” Mr. Tu informed.
At the press conference, Mr. Truong Van Dat, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association informed that implementing the Association's work program and the Young Physicians movement in 2023, practically implementing Resolution No. 20/NQ-TW of the 12th Party Central Committee on strengthening the work of protecting, caring for and improving people's health in the new situation, with the approval of the Ministry of Health , and localities, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association coordinated with AstraZeneca Vietnam Company Limited to build and launch the Medical Innovation Network.
Phase 1 of the program was implemented in Ho Chi Minh City and examined more than 12,000 registered people (as of November 30).
In phase 2, which will be implemented from now until January 30, 2024, the program will be implemented in the provinces and cities of Hanoi , Can Tho, Da Nang, and Thua Thien - Hue, and will screen for the risk of lung cancer and other lung diseases for more than 50,000 people (with screening application through a questionnaire using AI, comparing the doctor's X-ray results with the results read by AI).
The program aims to bring together individuals and healthcare organizations to contribute their intelligence and resources, create and effectively apply the achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to protect, care for and improve people's health. This effort is a significant leap forward in healthcare innovation and digital transformation in the future.
The Central-level launching ceremony will take place on the morning of December 17 at Tran Nhan Tong Walking Street (Hanoi). Participants need to register through the following system:

Select the hospital you want to visit and the date of your visit, or choose to visit in the community
2 – The patient goes to the hospital or community clinic on the selected day.
3 – Screening participants will be guided to complete the disease screening questionnaire, have a free chest X-ray and examination, and receive a free health assessment and consultation.
4 – If there are signs of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the participant will be assigned a free respiratory function test.
5 – If there are signs suggesting lung cancer, the participant will be assigned a free low-dose CT scan.
For those with a medical diagnosis after examination, the patient will be referred to participate in treatment support programs and regular health monitoring and consultation. In addition, when participating in the community examination program, participants will also receive a general examination and assessment of cardiovascular disease and diabetes risks as underlying disease factors.
