On June 1, the Food Safety Department said that it received a report from the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Public Health on the results of testing surveillance samples, discovering that the health protection food product Hong Hac Phuc Linh weight loss capsules contained the banned substances Sibutramine, Desmethylsibutramine, Didesmethylsibutramine.
GMP 2024 health protection food Hong Hac Phuc Linh weight loss capsules (batch number: 01022024, Manufacturing date: February 9, 2024, Expiry date: February 8, 2027) were sampled at Nhat Ngan pharmacy (batch number 13, Cho Gao Commercial Center, Cho Gao district, Tien Giang province).

Responsible trader and distributor: Phu Hung Me., JSC, address at No. 16, Lane 159 Lach Tray, Lach Tray Ward, Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong .
The product is manufactured at HADU factory, a branch of Hadu International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (address: Lot CN20, Luong Dien Industrial Park, Luong Dien Commune, Cam Giang District, Hai Duong Province).
Prohibited substances detected in the product include: Sibutramine, Desmethylsibutramine, Didesmethylsibutramine. These are banned substances used in food and functional foods in many countries, including Vietnam.
Among them, sibutramine is easily abused in weight loss health foods, because it inhibits the reabsorption of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain (increasing the feeling of fullness). However, it causes serious harm to health, increasing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disorders.
According to the Department of Food Safety, after receiving the test results, the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene of Hai Phong City and the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene of Hai Duong Province worked with the unit responsible for the product and the manufacturing unit.
However, both units confirmed that they did not produce this batch of products.
For the safety of consumers, while the authorities are handling the case, the Food Safety Department warns and recommends that consumers do not buy or use products with the above information.
In case this product is found circulating on the market, please notify the authorities for handling according to the provisions of law.
