Accordingly, on the morning of June 1, in Ha Long City ( Quang Ninh ), a Marathon took place with the participation of thousands of professional and amateur athletes.
After the race, there were two cases: Mr. L.D.T. (44 years old, in Ha Long City) and Ms. D.T.V. (35 years old, Thai Nguyen ), both amateur runners, who were hospitalized in a state of fatigue, difficulty breathing, vomiting, cramps and convulsions in their limbs.
Test results showed that the blood was concentrated, liver enzymes were elevated, and there were signs of acute kidney failure. After 48 hours of intravenous fluids and intensive treatment, both patients recovered well and were discharged from the hospital.
There were a lot of people participating in the Marathon in Ha Long.
According to doctors, in hot weather conditions, the body is susceptible to dehydration, reducing blood flow to the kidneys and other organs. This can lead to symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, cramps, and twitching of the limbs.
More dangerously, this condition can cause acute kidney failure, heat stroke, coma, and even death. Heat stroke and acute kidney failure due to exertion are common in healthy young people, especially amateur athletes when participating in high-intensity physical activities in hot weather.
