Can a nurse be promoted to a Grade III Doctor?

(Chinhphu.vn) - The civil servant rank of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngan (Hung Yen) is nurse. She has completed her studies as a general practitioner. Ms. Ngan asked, can she be transferred from the title of nurse to a Grade III doctor, or must she be transferred to a Grade IV physician and then promoted to a Grade III doctor?

Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Health responded as follows:

Officials who have been recruited and are currently receiving salaries in the previous nursing, medical worker, pharmacist, primary nurse, primary midwife, and primary medical technician positions (according to the salary table for type C officials) but have not been appointed to a professional title of grade IV medical professional, have now attended school and have a diploma of intermediate or college level or higher, if they meet the standards and conditions of the professional title of grade IV medical professional official prescribed in the Circulars and Joint Circulars of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Home Affairs regulating the codes and standards of professional titles of medical professional officials, shall be requested to be appointed by the Department of Health to the professional title of grade IV medical professional official and shall be ranked according to the salary table for type B officials if the official has a diploma of intermediate level, or ranked according to the salary table for type A0 officials if the official has a college degree.

After being appointed to the professional title of medical professional officer grade IV, in case the officer has a medical degree and the unit has a job position that meets the standards of the professional title of doctor, the Department of Health shall consider promoting from the professional title of medical professional officer grade IV to the professional title of Doctor grade III.

Currently, there are no regulations on promotion from nursing assistant to the professional title of Doctor Grade III.
