Cargo through airports reached more than 721 thousand tons (up 26% over the same period last year). Of which, domestic goods through the port reached more than 228 thousand tons and international goods reached 492 thousand tons.

In terms of the domestic market alone, in the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnamese airlines transported more than 17 million domestic passengers (equal to 82% compared to the same period in 2023).

Due to difficulties in fleets, airlines have had to adjust and reduce supply on domestic routes. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, this is the reason why the domestic market has decreased compared to the same period in 2023 and 2019.

The number of international take-offs and landings at airports with international operations also grew impressively, both in absolute value and growth rate compared to the same period in 2023 and compared to the same period in previous years.

For Vietnamese airlines alone, in the first 6 months of 2024, carriers reached nearly 9 million international passengers (up 28% over the same period in 2023), accounting for 44% of the international passenger transport market share.

Of which, the market shares of Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air are 17.8% and 24.5% respectively. Overall, the airlines still maintain a stable international air transport market share (40-45%) in comparison with foreign airlines.
