More than 900 teachers fail year-end awards for not supporting charity funds

(Dan Tri) - 923 groups and teachers in Bac Ha district, Lao Cai said they were denied year-end awards because they did not support the charity fund.

Regarding the case of more than 900 teachers in Bac Ha district failing to receive year-end rewards for not supporting the charity fund, according to the report of the Bac Ha district People's Committee on June 11, the Bac Ha district Departmentof Education and Training previously submitted a report on rewarding schools and teachers in the 2024-2025 school year (collective and individual).

Specifically, the title of advanced worker was awarded to 872 teachers and 42 groups; 460 teachers were awarded emulation fighters at the grassroots level; 43 teachers were awarded individual certificates of merit; 8 excellent labor groups were awarded emulation flags; and 11 teachers were awarded certificates of merit from the Prime Minister .

On June 5, the emulation and reward council of Bac Ha district met to consider and propose rewards for collectives and individuals in the 2024-2025 school year.

Of which, the title of advanced worker has 328/872 qualified teachers and 11/42 qualified schools; 150/460 teachers qualified as grassroots emulation fighters; 12/43 teachers qualified for individual certificates of merit; 4/8 schools qualified for excellent workers; 2/3 schools qualified for emulation flags; 3/11 teachers qualified for certificates of merit from the Prime Minister.

Thus, the emulation and reward council met to consider more than 490 qualified teachers.

The remaining 923 teachers and schools did not participate in social and charity work launched by agencies, units, and localities, according to provincial regulations. Therefore, Bac Ha district has not considered or submitted to superiors for rewards for this group.

This makes many teachers upset because many teachers and schools have worked very hard in the past time, and participated in many volunteer works not only at school but also in other organizations.

According to some teachers here, from July to December 2024, Bac Ha district called on the whole district to support many charity funds for storms and floods, the poor, and people with meritorious services...

Most teachers complied with the donation. However, it was not until early June 2025 that many teachers learned that there was still an unfunded fund, due to not receiving notification from their superiors.

Representatives of some schools also said that they did not receive the launching document from Bac Ha district, so there was no basis for implementation. As of June 4, only 19/57 schools in Bac Ha district had submitted charity funds.

Immediately afterwards, the remaining schools paid all funds, but were still not on the award list.

A representative of the People's Committee of Bac Ha district, Lao Cai, said that they will review and consider awarding the second round of rewards to the above-mentioned educational groups and individuals.

It is known that the bonus for advanced workers is 720,000 VND, and for grassroots emulation fighters is 2.34 million VND. In addition, this is the basis for teachers to be considered for early salary increases and some higher commendation achievements.
