Steering Committee Meeting of the Project "Propaganda on policies and tasks of nuclear power development"

Overview of the Steering Committee meeting to implement the Project.

At the meeting, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission announced the decision to establish the Steering Committee and the Working Group to implement the Project. Accordingly, the members of the Steering Committee and the Working Group include leaders of ministries, branches, units, localities and related agencies , such as : the National Assembly's Committee on Science and Technology and Environment, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Public Security , the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee, the Vietnam Electricity Group, and the National Energy Industry Group.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Working Group, Comrade Le Thi Ngan, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, briefly presented the contents, action plans and methods of information and propaganda on policies and tasks of nuclear power development; the mechanism for coordination of work, draft assignment of responsibilities to members of the Steering Committee , The working group asked for the Steering Committee's opinion.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Huynh Thanh Dat, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Head of the Project Steering Committee affirmed that nuclear power development is one of the major, timely, strategic directions of the Party to diversify energy sources, ensure energy security, promote the transition to green energy to achieve the goal of zero net emissions by 2050 as committed at COP26, meeting the needs of sustainable development of the country. Nuclear power development is a major issue, a national event, therefore, close, synchronous, and unified coordination between the Central and local levels, between ministries, branches, between members of the Steering Committee, and members of the Editorial Board will help the propaganda work of the Party and State's policies and tasks of nuclear power development in a timely and effective manner.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dat, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Head of the Project Steering Committee spoke.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh spoke at the meeting.

The implementation of the Project aims to propagate the Party's policies and guidelines on the task of developing nuclear power in Vietnam and continuing to research Ninh Thuan nuclear power to create high unity within the Party, consensus and support of the people for the nuclear power program; promote propaganda, raise awareness of Party committees, Party organizations, authorities, unions at all levels as well as organizations, individuals and the social community about the role, significance and importance of the nuclear power program for the development of the country in the new era, the era of national development.

With a high sense of responsibility, the delegates directly discussed and contributed valid opinions on the content of the draft projects; shared practical information on restarting the nuclear power program in Vietnam and the preparation work for the construction of two nuclear power plants in Ninh Thuan province.
