Vietnam-Laos comprehensive cooperation is growing further

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed Comrade Suvon Luongbunmi to visit Vietnam, and conveyed his warm regards and New Year Bunpimay wishes to Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane.

Emphasizing the important significance of the visit to Vietnam by the Vice President of the Lao National Assembly this time, which will help deepen the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the results of the recent talks between the two Vice Presidents of the National Assembly and the delegation's implementation of activities to supervise the construction of clusters of villages in Son La and Dien Bien provinces.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also highly appreciated Laos' implementation of the arrangement and organization of the central administrative apparatus and the establishment of commune-level governments to streamline the administrative management apparatus, meeting the country's development requirements; he believed that under the wise, close and timely leadership of the Party, the effective supervision of the National Assembly and the drastic direction and administration of the Government, the Lao country and people will overcome all difficulties, successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th National Congress and successfully organize Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 12th National Party Congress in 2026.

The National Assembly Chairman expressed his delight at the increasingly developing special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, including the extremely close and effective cooperation between the two National Assemblies; suggested that the two National Assemblies continue to coordinate closely and effectively supervise the implementation of high-level agreements; increase the exchange of delegations, information and experience in the fields of reorganizing and streamlining the apparatus of National Assembly agencies, legislative activities, organizing joint supervision and survey delegations, and urging the Government, ministries, branches, localities and enterprises to effectively implement the Vietnam-Laos Joint Statement.

Comrade Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two sides promote cooperation between the National Assembly Committees, in exchanging information, experience, and professional expertise in the fields of legislation, supervision, and decision-making on major national issues; and suggested focusing on cooperation between localities, especially provinces sharing a border.

Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Suvon Luongbunmi thanked President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man for receiving the delegation and respectfully conveyed the warm regards of President of the National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane to comrade Tran Thanh Man.

Congratulating Vietnam on the important achievements in recent times, the Vice President of the Lao National Assembly expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will continue to gain many new and greater achievements in the renovation process, successfully implementing the goals set by the 13th National Party Congress and was pleased with the development of the special Laos-Vietnam relationship.

Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Suvon Luongbunmi expressed his gratitude for the great and effective support and assistance that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have given to the Lao Party, State and people up to now.

Informing about the good cooperation results between the two countries' National Assemblies in recent times, the Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly respectfully accepted the direction of the Chairman of the National Assembly on promoting the cooperation between the two legislative bodies of the two countries to become increasingly closer and more effective, and pledged to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese National Assembly in supervising the implementation of signed Agreements, especially Vietnam's investment projects in Laos.

Comrade Suvon Luongbunmi informed Comrade Tran Thanh Man about the recent situation in Laos, the results of implementing the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress, including the very important task of implementing the arrangement and streamlining of the Lao apparatus, especially the establishment of commune-level governments.

* On the same day, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong held talks with Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Suvon Luongbunmi. The two sides informed and exchanged information on the situation in each country, some results of the activities of the two National Assemblies, highly appreciated and expressed joy at the good development of the cooperation relationship between the two National Assemblies in recent times, both in bilateral cooperation mechanisms as well as in regional and international parliamentary forums, and pledged to continue to strengthen consultation and close coordination in multilateral parliamentary forums such as AIPA, IPU, etc.

The two sides also discussed and shared experiences in parliamentary work, especially in supervising the implementation of high-level agreements, including the implementation of strategic cooperation projects on socio-economic development and infrastructure development in the two countries, contributing to maintaining security and stability in border areas as well as promoting local cooperation between the two countries.

The delegation also had a discussion and worked with comrade Le Quang Tung, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office and a number of leaders of the National Assembly agencies on the recent arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus of the National Assembly agencies to improve the capacity and operational efficiency of the National Assembly agencies, better meeting the development requirements of the country in the new situation.

From April 22-25, 2025, Vice President of the Lao National Assembly Suvon Luongbunmi will visit and work in Son La and Dien Bien provinces.
