Guidelines for selecting excellent press works to participate in the 18th National Press Awards

Accordingly, the conditions for participating in the Award, regarding authors, are Vietnamese citizens, including professional and non-professional journalists, with excellent press works published in mass media (printed newspapers, radio, television, electronic newspapers, etc.) licensed by the Ministry of Information and Communications .

Authors participating in the Award must not violate the Code of Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists, the Press Law and other laws. In case many people create the same work, the award will be given to a group of authors, up to a maximum of 05 people.

Final round of the 17th National Press Awards 2022.

Regarding the work, it is the work that has been used from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023 in the mass media mentioned above. Works used during this period that have been awarded prizes in other competitions are still eligible to participate in the National Press Awards, but must clearly state information about the competition, the organizing unit and the prize level.

For serial works, if the first installments are published before January 1, 2023 and have not participated in the 17th National Press Award - 2022, they will be combined with the following installments (published from January 1, 2023) to form a complete work to participate in the 18th National Press Award - 2023.

Works with content that closely follows the political tasks of the country, the industry, and the locality, promptly and deeply reflects the actual situation, has a discovery nature, practically serves the cause of innovation, the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; truthfully reflects the political , economic, cultural, social, national defense, security, and foreign affairs life of the country, the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, the Resolutions and Directives of the Party, policies and laws of the State in 2023; encourages press works on advanced models, new factors, criticizes and fights against negative behaviors, corruption, and wrong views of hostile forces; accurately and promptly informs about important international events.

Works of fiction (poetry, paintings, sketches, literary memoirs, literary stories, short stories, essays, etc.) will not be considered.

The Final Council discussed and selected quality press works at the 17th National Press Awards 2022.

Works must reflect accurate, honest, objective information, raise new issues, and have discovery value. They must address issues that the Party, State, and people are interested in, have high public opinion orientation, be convincing, and have a positive impact on social life.

Works that commend advanced models and new factors that have proven effective in practice and at the same time mention negative incidents that have been concluded to be true by competent authorities or have been acknowledged and remedied by the offending organizations and individuals.

Works that deal with specialized fields of natural sciences, social sciences, history, and have different opinions must be evaluated by competent specialized agencies.

All entries to the National Press Awards by authors (whether members or non-members of the Vietnam Journalists Association) must be approved by the local Association (where there is no local Association, then through the local press agency). The Awards Council does not accept entries submitted by individuals.

For authors who are not members of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the work published or broadcast on any newspaper or radio station, the author has the right to submit the work for the award through the Association or that press agency.

For Press Photos: The National Press Awards Council accepts that authors can send their works to the Award Secretariat for compilation, without going through the Selection Board at the grassroots level.

The Final Jury selects photojournalistic works (including single photos, photo groups, photo reports) in 2022.

When selecting works for the Award, the Selection Committees should pay attention to ensuring a balance in the number of works of different types of journalism and types of awards. They should not select many works of one type or genre. They are requested that the Associations at all levels and press agencies pay more attention to press photo works, radio works of news, reflection articles, interviews, comments, monographs, and discussions.
