Mobilizing troops to fight forest fires in hot weather

On the afternoon of May 31, Phong Hai Border Guard Station, Hue City Border Guard coordinated with functional forces and local people to promptly extinguish a forest fire that occurred in Hamlet 1 Ke Mon, Phong Thuan Commune, Phong Dien Town, Hue City.

Previously, at 3:00 p.m. on May 31, Phong Hai Border Guard Station received a report of a fire in an acacia plantation area in Ke Mon village 1, Phong Thuan commune.

The unit urgently mobilized 20 officers and soldiers along with mobile vehicles to the scene, coordinating with local authorities, functional forces in the area and people to deploy fire fighting work.

However, hot weather and strong southerly winds caused the fire to spread. Firefighters used water sprayers and cut the runway to create a fire-fighting corridor to control the fire from spreading.

After nearly 2 hours of trying to put out the fire, by 5:00 p.m. the same day, the fire was completely extinguished.

Authorities are currently assessing the damage and investigating the cause of the fire.
