Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister stated that, from the historical foundation of the revolutionary air force, directly inheriting the heroic Air Force Regiment 919, the birth of Vietnam Airlines is an important milestone in the nearly 70-year proud history of the Vietnamese civil aviation industry.
According to the Prime Minister , aviation is a high-tech industry, a source of great pride and glory, but also a great responsibility; it has received great attention from the Party and the State over the years. The development of aviation is a measure of the growth and development of our country and "wherever Vietnamese airlines and Vietnamese planes fly, our country's soft borders will go there".
Emphasizing the importance, position, role and mission of Vietnam Airlines, the Prime Minister assessed that in three decades of formation and development, Vietnam Airlines has always gloriously fulfilled its role as the national airline - the leading airline, not only participating in socio-economic development but also making important contributions to national defense, security, foreign affairs and people's livelihood, especially in the most difficult and challenging times.
In particular, during the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, the entire world aviation industry fell into an unprecedented crisis, Vietnam Airlines still maintained safe operations and made important contributions to the country's epidemic prevention work.
In the context of the rapidly changing, complex, unpredictable international situation, fierce competition and increasing demands for green and sustainable development, the Prime Minister requested Vietnam Airlines and relevant agencies to continue to build and perfect institutions, quickly amend relevant laws, decrees and circulars, in the direction of decentralizing more authority, cutting procedures, reducing costs, and increasing competitiveness for the aviation industry in general and Vietnam Airlines in particular.
The Prime Minister requested that Vietnam Airlines be more bold in proposing institutions, removing obstacles; building modern infrastructure; developing a team of high-quality staff; improving 5-star services; developing a modern, green, and safe aviation industry; building a Vietnam Airlines culture imbued with national identity; modern, smart, digital, green management and operation, reducing costs, reducing administrative procedures, decentralization, and delegation of power; building an aviation industry that meets the country's development requirements and the development trends of the times.
The Prime Minister also asked Vietnam Airlines to continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, "unanimity from top to bottom, and transparency across the board", all for the common good, the national interest, and the people.

At the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh awarded a certificate of merit to Vietnam Airlines for its outstanding achievements and positive contributions to the country's socio-economic development and international integration.
According to Vietnam Airlines' report, in three decades of operation, the airline has served 350 million passengers, transported 4.7 million tons of cargo, operated nearly 100 routes to 53 domestic and international destinations, and connected more than 1,000 global destinations through the SkyTeam airline alliance.
In the period 1995-2024, the total amount paid to the state budget from the parent company and its subsidiaries reached about 68,000 billion VND, 3 times the capital contribution of the state shareholders. In 2024 alone, Vietnam Airlines' consolidated revenue reached nearly 113,000 billion VND, with consolidated profit after tax reaching a record 7,958 billion VND.
In the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam Airlines continued to record growth with pre-tax profit reaching nearly VND 3,625 billion. The airline aims to become a 5-star international airline by 2030.
