At the seminar, Deputy Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Nong Thi Ha said that by March 2024, there were still over 300,000 households living in temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide, and many households had no place to live. Based on that reality, the Prime Minister has resolutely directed and launched a movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025.
With the motto of "leaving no one behind", promoting the spirit of solidarity, unity, initiative, flexibility, creativity and using appropriate methods, approaches, and breakthrough methods "faster, faster", the Government is determined to strive to achieve this goal by the end of 2025, 5 years ahead of schedule.
Implementing the Government's direction and responding to the Prime Minister's call, the entire political system has actively participated and achieved practical results. Since the program's launch, the whole country has supported more than 125,000 houses for poor and near-poor households; more than 26,300 houses for households with meritorious services and more than 51,400 houses from national target programs.

In total, up to now, 20/63 provinces and cities nationwide have achieved the criteria of no more temporary or dilapidated houses. According to data updated up to May 31, on the reporting software system of localities, the whole country has supported the elimination of 203,048 temporary or dilapidated houses, of which 138,671 have been completed and 64,377 are in the process of starting or building.
The results achieved not only clearly reflect the efforts of localities in improving housing conditions for people, but also demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, consensus and shared responsibility of the whole society in effectively implementing the goal of poverty reduction and promoting sustainable development nationwide.
Deputy Minister Nong Thi Ha emphasized that the inauguration and groundbreaking of projects in recent times have created motivation, inspiration, movements, trends, and a widespread competitive atmosphere in all levels, sectors, localities, in the business community and among the people.
Each house is a gift, a love, a meaningful home, showing the camaraderie, the solidarity, the sharing, the love of the whole community, showing the trust, the excitement of the people, the love of all classes of people, especially the poor, the disadvantaged, and people in especially difficult areas.
This result also realizes the Party's policies and the State's guidelines, demonstrating the goals, the good and superior nature of our regime and our Party with the ideology that "people are the root"; "The Party has no other purpose than to bring a prosperous and happy life to the people"; "no one is left behind"; socio-economic development must be associated with ensuring fairness, progress and social security; not sacrificing progress and social justice to pursue economic growth alone; affirming the cultural values and fine moral traditions of the nation.
Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, said that as of now, the police force alone has completed 29,100 houses to give to households and people across the country. The funds come from philanthropists, financial groups, economic groups, and officers and soldiers of the entire force who have contributed their daily salaries. “The police force across the country is involved. Those who have contributed will contribute their contributions, those who have money will contribute their money, those who have strength will contribute their strength,” said the major general.
Deputy Minister Nong Thi Ha added that up to now, the banking sector has transferred about 1,200 billion VND to localities to support the implementation of the program. The banking sector has launched a movement for each officer, employee, and worker of the sector to support at least one day's salary to eliminate 1,000 temporary and dilapidated houses for localities.
The military has also contributed over 600 billion VND and mobilized more than 21,000 officers and soldiers with more than 76,500 working days to support the removal of temporary and dilapidated houses...
