Many meaningful activities towards environmental protection

STO - On the morning of June 5, at the Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities - Secondary School of Long Phu District, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang in collaboration with Syngenta Vietnam organized the Tree Planting Launching Ceremony and the Program "Clean Environment - Green Life". Attending the program were comrades: Nguyen Thuy Nhi - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang, Trinh Bao Khuyen - Vice Chairman of the Labor Federation of Soc Trang Province.

The program "Clean Environment - Green Life" has been implemented by Syngenta Vietnam since 2015 to spread green lifestyle and raise public awareness of environmental protection. At this event, the unit coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province to organize many meaningful activities such as : collecting and processing about 2 tons of agricultural waste, which is used pesticide packaging in Long Phu commune (Long Phu district), Thanh Quoi commune (My Xuyen district), My Huong commune (My Tu district); planting 700 trees on rural roads; giving 10 bicycles to disadvantaged students in Long Phu district.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade Nguyen Thuy Nhi said that the event was organized to respond to World Environment Day on June 5 to contribute to raising awareness and action of organizations and individuals participating in environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and climate change response towards the goal of sustainable development. In the coming time, the relevant agencies and localities will continue to propagate and mobilize people to join hands in protecting the environment, reducing the use of plastic products, limiting nylon bags, actively planting trees, planting forests to develop carbon credits to contribute to reducing net emissions to zero by 2050, promoting good and effective models and initiatives to create a widespread impact in the community...

On this occasion, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang also presented 20 plastic waste collection models with a total value of 220 million VND to Long Phu district.
