Farmer Nguyen Phuoc Cuong, a member of Phuoc Hao Agricultural Cooperative, has participated in rice production under the Project for 6 consecutive crops with an area of 1.5 hectares; earning 50 million VND/ha/crop with ST24 variety.
Mr. Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: The implementation of rice production according to the Project in the past time has proven to be effective for farmers in the model; in addition to increasing economic value thanks to saving on cultivation costs. Rice production according to the Project also has a positive impact on community awareness to join hands in preventing and combating natural disasters, adapting to climate change, reducing greenhouse gas emissions in rice cultivation; managing crop conditions, pests and environmental pollution by minimizing the use of chemicals, increasing the use of drugs, organic fertilizers, microorganisms, etc.
From more than 100 hectares in the 2023-2024 winter-spring rice crop, participating in production under the Project; after 06 rice production crops, up to now (2025 summer-autumn rice crop), the total rice production area under the Project has increased to over 5,121 hectares with 37 cooperatives, cooperative groups (THT) and 5,158 participating households. In this, the districts with the largest area participating in the Project are Tra Cu with 1,800 hectares/05 cooperatives and 03 THT; Chau Thanh district has 1,063 hectares/07 cooperatives and 01 THT; Tieu Can district has 620 hectares/05 cooperatives...
Comrade Vo Quang Cuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tieu Can district, said: In implementing rice production according to the Project, the locality has only implemented it from the winter-spring rice crop of 2024-2025 with a total area of 110 hectares in 02 cooperatives Rach Lop (Tan Hung commune) and Phu Can (Phu Can commune). From the efficiency in rice production according to the Project (profit from 28 - 30 million VND/ha, higher than outside by 03 - 05 million VND/ha); therefore, in the summer-autumn rice crop of 2025, the production area increased sharply, with 620 hectares of 680 participating households. In Phu Can commune alone, 316 households registered to produce with an area of over 301 hectares.
Farmer Thach Sia, Dai Truong hamlet, Phu Can commune, Tieu Can district said: his family has 0.4 ha of rice land and the 2025 summer-autumn crop will participate in production under the Project. This area is very favorable for rice production thanks to 02 pumping stations, so farmers are proactive in water resources; applying alternating flooding and drying irrigation helps farmers save, reduce pumping costs and rice grows well. In the short term, participating in rice production under the Project will help farmers reduce costs (seeds, pesticides and fertilizers...) to increase profits.
In the 2025 summer-autumn rice crop, Cau Ke district has 05 communes implementing the high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation model according to the Project, with a total area of 733 hectares in 05 agricultural cooperatives. The seeds have been planted for more than 01 month and are growing well. At the same time, the businesses that have cooperated with farmers to produce rice according to the Project have had a significant impact on moving towards organic farming and production processes, creating safe, quality products and saving costs in rice cultivation...
In which, the State budget supports 50% of the seed cost and 100% of the technical training cost. On the partner side, BIWASE Science - Technology - Environment Joint Stock Company supports 30% of the standard for organic microbial fertilizer, equivalent to 109.95 tons, worth 549.75 million VND; the people contribute 70%, equivalent to 256.55 tons, worth 1.282 billion VND and 100% of the cost of inorganic fertilizer, biological medicine, etc.
Comrade Pham Van Kha, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cau Ke district, said: to effectively implement the high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation model, the unit and community agricultural extension teams are currently focusing on monitoring and guiding people on technical processes of land preparation, seed selection, care, fertilizer use and finding output for products; at the same time, receiving sources of organic fertilizers from businesses associated with cooperatives and farmers to apply according to technical processes.
