The case of the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, being vandalized: Disciplinary action considered for many groups and individuals

The review and disciplinary part is currently only at the level of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center. The Hue City People's Committee is reviewing the levels of involvement of groups and individuals to handle according to regulations.

On June 1, Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Chief of Office of Hue City People's Committee, said that, implementing the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh on handling information reflecting the destruction of the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, Hue City People's Committee has reported the implementation results to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, inspected Thai Hoa Palace after the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, was broken.

Accordingly, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center will review and draw profound lessons from experience before the leaders of Hue City People's Committee. Review and severely criticize the collective of the Protection Management Department; Hue Royal Antiquities Museum.

For the members of the Board of Directors of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, review and draw profound lessons for Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, Party Secretary, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, and the Deputy Directors of this Center, including: Mr. Phan Van Tuan, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Hai Trung and Mr. Le Cong Son.

For individuals directly responsible for the incident, including: The Head and Deputy Head of the Thai Hoa Palace Security Team will be disciplined with a reprimand. Disciplinary action will be taken against 2 security guards at Thai Hoa Palace on May 24.

Regarding the assessment of the status and proposal of a plan to preserve and restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, based on the consensus of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, signed a decision to establish a Council to assess the status and propose a plan to preserve and restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne.

This Council is chaired by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, with representatives from the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as Vice Chairman, and researchers and scientists as members.

The national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, was broken into many pieces after being vandalized by Ho Van Phuong Tam at noon on May 24.

"Based on the results of the Council meeting, the Hue City People's Committee will continue to report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider and decide on a plan to preserve and restore the national treasure, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, in accordance with regulations," said Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang.
