This is an annual event maintained since 2014, affirming the important role in preserving and promoting the nation's tradition of filial piety.
Speaking at the press conference announcing the program "Vu Lan - Filial Piety and Nation 2025", Most Venerable Thich Gia Quang, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council and Head of the Central Information and Communications Department of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, affirmed that Vu Lan does not stop at the rose pinning ceremony, but is an occasion to evoke the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking water", showing gratitude to ancestors and heroic martyrs, while praising the will to protect the sacred and inviolable sovereignty of the Fatherland today and tomorrow.
Continuing the tradition of accompanying the nation, this year's program covers many levels of subjects: "Journey of gratitude - Burning incense in the sacred land of Quang Tri " will bring a group of Buddhists, artists and volunteers to Truong Son Martyrs' Cemetery at the end of July to offer incense, visit heroic Vietnamese mothers, and give gifts to families with meritorious services; "Journey of nurturing - Supporting children to go to school in the Northwest mountains and forests" in early August will bring books, scholarships and charity classes to children in the highlands, lighting up their desire for knowledge; the online contest "Lighting up filial piety - Brightening the nation's soul" creates a creative playground for all citizens from 10 years old...
The art program “Filial piety and the sacred soul of the Fatherland” on the evening of August 30, in Hanoi, will be the highlight closing the Vu Lan journey, gathering famous artists, folk artisans and typical Buddhists, blending music , poetry and Buddhist rituals, recreating the image of mothers, soldiers, and Vietnamese people full of love and spirit.
