With the movement "War veterans help each other reduce poverty and do good business " in the period of 2021 - 2025, the Association at all levels has synchronously deployed many practical solutions, strongly spreading the spirit of self-reliance and self-reliance among members, making an important contribution to the construction of new rural areas and ensuring social security in the locality.
ACCOMPANYING MEMBERS TO OVERCOME DIFFICULTIES
Realizing the importance of economic development among its members, the Chau Thanh District Veterans Association has actively concretized the plans of the Provincial Association into action programs suitable for each locality. Over the past 5 years, the Association has organized more than 150 implementations and widely disseminated the content of the movement "Veterans help each other reduce poverty and do good business", attracting thousands of members to participate.
Since then, the emulation movement for good production and business has developed strongly, forming many effective models. The whole district currently has 9 Good Production and Business Clubs with 142 members, 4 cow and goat breeding cooperatives with 51 members, 1 ornamental flower cooperative and 3 cooperatives owned by war veteran members. In particular, many large-scale, methodical economic development models have emerged, creating jobs for hundreds of local workers.

Typical examples include comrade Nguyen Tan Thanh (Tan Ly Tay commune), Director of Hoan Vinh Import-Export Garment Service Trading Company Limited, which currently employs more than 700 workers; comrade Doan Van Khanh (Song Thuan commune) with a model of producing products from grapefruit, and is also an active supporter of rice for the poor, with a total value of hundreds of millions of VND each year. Or comrade Le Quang Lam (Long Dinh commune), owner of an export lacquer production facility, creating stable jobs for more than 100 workers; comrade Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, member of the Veterans' Business Association, has succeeded with a model of producing water pipes and household goods in Long Dinh.
Vice President of the Association of War Veterans in Chau Thanh District, Nguyen Xuan Mai, said that these models not only bring profits to the members themselves, but also have a positive impact on the community by creating jobs, supporting vocational training and joining hands with the Association to care for the disadvantaged, contributing to accelerating the progress of poverty reduction in the area. The continuous efforts of the Association at all levels have brought about remarkable results.
By May 2025, Chau Thanh district had eliminated 100% of poor war veteran households, with only 2 near-poor households remaining. The rate of war veteran households with a good and rich standard of living reached 81.98%, exceeding the set target. In 5 years, the Association has mobilized the construction of 30 houses for members in difficult circumstances with a total value of nearly 1.9 billion VND, contributing to eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses among members.
In addition, the Association at all levels has actively coordinated with the District Social Policy Bank to disburse more than 72 billion VND to 1,834 members for preferential loans. In addition, members also voluntarily contributed capital in 133 capital contribution lines, with a total amount of nearly 588 million VND per rotation, helping hundreds of members have the conditions to invest in production and improve their income.
The emulation movement is also associated with charitable activities. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, the Association mobilized more than 800 gifts (each worth 500,000 VND) to support members, veterans and people in difficult circumstances; organized medical visits and provided cash support to dozens of members...
ACCOMPANYING THE BUILDING OF NEW COUNTRYSIDE
Another bright spot is the role of the Veterans Association members in building the new rural areas and protecting the environment. The Association at all levels has mobilized members to participate in nearly 140 propaganda campaigns on building the new rural areas, contributing efforts and materials to carry out skillful mass mobilization projects such as: building bridges, making concrete roads, lighting up rural roads, beautifying the landscape and environment...
Typical is the model of "No-garbage, bright - green - clean - beautiful roads" in Vinh Kim, Binh Trung and Tam Hiep communes; Veterans' clubs - former soldiers protecting the environment regularly clean up every month throughout the district. In the past 5 years alone, members of the district have contributed thousands of working days, donated more than 1,400 m² of land, and mobilized hundreds of millions of VND to improve the rural traffic system.
Vice Chairman of the Association of War Veterans in Chau Thanh District, Nguyen Xuan Mai, said that from the practical and effective models achieved, it can be affirmed that the movement of "War Veterans helping each other reduce poverty and do good business" in Chau Thanh District not only improves the lives of members, but also contributes significantly to the development of local socio-economy, building new rural areas, ensuring social security and promoting the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in peacetime.
