Ia H'Drai is a border district of Kon Tum province, bordering Dun Mia and Ta Veng districts of Ratanakiri province (Cambodia). The district has 3 communes: Ia Dal, Ia Dom and Ia Toi with a population of over 13,700 people, mainly ethnic minorities. In recent times, the Party Committee, government and political system in the district have Ia H'Drai has implemented many synchronous solutions, invested in facilities, and innovated teaching methods, so the quality of education and training has clearly changed.
Taking us to visit Nguyen Du Primary and Secondary School in Ia Dom commune, teacher Nguyen Ngoc Linh, the school's principal, shared with us about the first years of bringing "literacy" to students in the poor and deprived highlands... Teacher Nguyen Ngoc Linh confided that the education and training career of Ia H'Drai district has changed dramatically compared to before. That is easily seen through the appearance of the new, spacious, solidly built schools, fully equipped with teaching and learning equipment, replacing the makeshift thatched-roof school of the past on the dry, windy land. Nguyen Du Primary and Secondary School today is also a school that has made strong strides, has a tradition of "Good Teaching - Good Learning" with many typical examples of teachers and staff who have made outstanding contributions to the education career, with many initiatives, innovations, and improvements in teaching quality.
Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ia H'Drai district, Thach Xuan Hao, said that in recent years, the district has focused on prioritizing investment and building facilities to serve the development of education and training. The locality has mobilized resources well, improved the staff and teachers to serve teaching at all levels, and continuously improved the quality of education. Currently, Ia H'Drai district has 7 schools/147 classes with over 3,300 students, including over 2,200 ethnic minority students, an increase of over 300 students compared to the previous school year.
Overcoming difficulties, with the dedication and responsibility of the team of teachers and educational managers; the efforts of the students have achieved many remarkable results, especially maintaining the number of students to meet and exceed the assigned target. The rate of mobilizing children to go to kindergarten reached 65.69%; children attending ethnic minority kindergarten reached 69.82%; preschool children reached 100%; ethnic minority preschool children reached 100%; 6-year-old students entering grade 1 reached 100%.
The highlight of the education and training work of Ia H'Drai district is the effective implementation of the topic "Building a child-centered kindergarten" and the implementation of strengthening Vietnamese for ethnic minority children on the basis of their mother tongue in preschools; doing a good job of preparing Vietnamese for ethnic minority children; preparing conditions and mindsets well for children to enter grade 1. General education institutions focus on innovating teaching methods and forms in the direction of developing students' qualities and abilities; strengthening the organization of practical experiences, integrating local educational content.
In particular, the work of building schools that meet national standards continues to be accelerated, and it is expected that by the end of 2023, there will be 2 kindergartens and 1 primary and secondary school that meet national standards. Mobilizing investment resources for education, funding sources, and aid to improve facilities and learning conditions such as: Dream libraries, friendly libraries have spread to schools in remote areas; books, notebooks, and school supplies are shared with disadvantaged students through the movement "Old books for the new school year", the model "Boarding schools for the people", the scholarship "For studious children, helping them go to school", "Adopted children of Border Guard Station" ... building and spreading the model "Happy school" in building schools, equality, democracy, creating a friendly school environment, contributing to mobilizing students to go to class.
Comrade Truong Thi Linh, Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of Ia H'Drai District Party Committee, said that the key task in the coming time is to continue developing the education and training career, improving the quality of human resources, creating a driving force to promote the district's socio-economic development. Continue to consolidate and arrange the school and classroom system in conjunction with the plan to arrange and organize the team of managers, teachers and staff, ensuring strictness and rationality. Mobilize resources to invest in facilities to maintain and improve the quality of universal education at all levels; expand and improve the quality of foreign language teaching; promote the application of information technology, digital transformation, etc.
Promoting the achieved results, in the 2023-2024 school year, the education and training sector of Ia H'Drai district has prepared the best conditions for the new school year, aiming to effectively implement the preschool education, general education and continuing education programs; deploy breakthrough solutions, continuously improve the quality of education and training, contributing to the successful implementation of the cause of human development in the mountainous border district./.
